Acts of thuggery and common assault are a feature of rugby and seem to be largely ignored by the authorities.

Well that should be Healy cleared so. Unless McKenzie is from Glasgow....Lar wrote:Mitch Lees citing dismissed. Worthy of a penalty but not a red card. No suspension.

I remember playing with a number 8, who was bigger than everyone else, and that was his signature skill...you wouldn't expect it from a full back!

We'd hope! But I've a bad vibe on this. There's been a lot of talk on the tackle in the meeja; shouldn't count- but... ye know.Peg Leg wrote:Well that should be Healy cleared so. It does. And there was only the not great TV footage of the other one. Couldn't see how he lined him up from distance and dived in head first.

That is a disgrace. It was far, far more dangerous than Healy'sLar wrote:Mitch Lees citing dismissed. Worthy of a penalty but not a red card. No suspension.

Well it certainly seemed worthy of a red card. But there is a recurring thing at Lansdowne Road that some stuff perfectly visible in the stand has not great TV anglecurates_egg wrote:That is a disgrace. At least Healy will be fresh for Europe

So he's back for Glasgow?
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

Well there is that of course but I mean that there is no actual camera angle side on the pitch from one side.Dave Cahill wrote:May have more to do with those sitting in the stand [WINKING FACE]

An example would be the Leinster Munster match that they all cried foul on (Kilcoyne was getting penalised for boring in and they couldn't figure out why the ref was penalising him - it wasn't visible on the TV as there was no camera on that side).

Kilcoyne is always boring, so you don't need a camera angle for that!fourthirtythree wrote:Well there is that of course but I mean that there is no actual camera angle side on the pitch from one side.Dave Cahill wrote:May have more to do with those sitting in the stand [WINKING FACE]

As for this one, I had to sneak out from the in-laws and the only place to watch was a Munster bar in Cologne...but the flying headbutt was clear as day on the telly. The way Church stumbled back from it and was dazed after as well.
As I said, I have zero problem with Church getting a ban but this was far, far, far more dangerous. The whole disciplinary thing remains a joke, 4(?) years on from POCgate.

I'd have to agree with you CE... cannot understand it wasn't sanctioned. Launched himself head first at Healys head, no attempt to bind with his arm on the ruck which you must do. With players of 120kg launching themselves/travelling at speed into the ruck area without first binding the most likely result is serious injury.

Just want to put this on the record:
The crowd were nicely riled up by Exeter apparently permanently offside, and a series of decisions seeming to go against Leinster. So the ball goes out of play. I don't know why, but a bit of pushing and shoving develops, with players running in from both sides. Poite arrives with gallic insouciance. Some wag in my section yells "PUNCH THE REF!"
All in the section burst out laughing. Then if they're like me, feel a little guilty.
