The Scott Fardy Appreciation Thread
Tissues at the ready. This man is already a Leinster legend and deserves his own thread. 100% commitment and major talent.
Based on what we have seen so far, I would put him right up there with our best signings like Rocky and Isa.
Someone on another thread argued he is better than Thorn and Hinesy, and it's easy to agree.
I read a ridiculous article somewhere this week stating that, as we need JGP, we will have to let Fardy go so Lowe can play for us. Definitely the most stupid thing I read last week (and that includes Franno).
Re: The Scott Fardy Appreciation Thread
The guy has been superb for us already. He's exactly what we need.
Re: The Scott Fardy Appreciation Thread
He has been immense and he puts it in every game no matter the opposition or competition.
In the next couple of years with us if he gets anywhere near what Hines did for us that would be enough for me. Thorn was a world class legend and we needed him at the time but he played a handful of games for us I will remember him fondly but it is has always been my opinion that we needed him because we let Hines go to early. Long live Nathan Hines.
Back on thread, Fardy has been a super, super signing so far.

Re: The Scott Fardy Appreciation Thread
Best signing in recent years, he is what Kane Douglas failed to be. He's aware of his role and he's happy to play it.
I'm still gutted he's come close to scoring four (or five) times, only to have it either ruled not a try or be just held out.
JGP is still useful to us, though it would be nice to see Nick developed, presumably Nacewa is retiring (again) next year (though looks like he could play one more season), which would free up Lowe.

Nacewa has no impact on whether Lowe makes the squad or not. As discussed ad nauseum on here, Isa does not count as a fahrdener under dem rooles.harblstuff wrote:Best signing in recent years, he is what Kane Douglas failed to be. He's aware of his role and he's happy to play it.

No but he does play in a position that Lowe is very likely to play...curates_egg wrote:Nacewa has no impact on whether Lowe makes the squad or not. But that has nothing to do with the preposterous suggestion, in the article referenced in the OP, that we let Fardy go so Lowe can play.arsebiscuits1 wrote:No but he does play in a position that Lowe is very likely to play...curates_egg wrote:Nacewa has no impact on whether Lowe makes the squad or not. Dude, that is projectionism in the extreme!arsebiscuits1 wrote:God forbid you'd admit to getting called out...curates_egg wrote: But that has nothing to do with the preposterous suggestion, in the article referenced in the OP, that we let Fardy go so Lowe can play.
That, indeed, is the pointarsebiscuits1 wrote:Scott Fardy though.

Slowly usurping Ollie Le Roux as my foreign signing folk hero. He'll never replace Stephen Knoop in the awesome hair stakes, you know cuz he's a slaphead...like me
I'm just trying to keep things grounded here

And a similar love-in from d'Indo
https://www.independent.ie/sport/rugby/ ... 23416.html
"I wanted to come overseas, I wanted to experience playing European rugby," he explains.
"Ideally, that would be with a club playing at the business end (of the season). Leinster have proven they can get to the business end every year and have the squad to do so.
"If you look at the talent in the squad, you want to play alongside those guys.
"I wanted to enjoy my rugby. Money is not everything to me. Put it that way.
...
"I didn't want to go somewhere and just play. I want to go to a place and win. That's important to me."

So, in case you missed his post-match interview:
https://twitter.com/leinsterrugby/statu ... 4322803712
Also, his awesome quote from the match programme:
https://www.instagram.com/p/Bdn4fcqgJvx/
"I really just want to do my best for the team this week; be that in the gym, on the pitch, or on match day. I want to contribute as best I can because I see what's in here every day, and the potential that is here, and it is a place that I want to come into every morning."
I've changed the punctuation from the programme in trying to channel the true meaning of what he said.

A Murray Kinsella classic on Fardy's performance on Saturday:

Such a skilful athlete. I understand why he has only been able to start once in Europe this season, but it is a crying shame.

Re: The Scott Fardy Appreciation Thread
Kinsella alludes to the World Cup. I wonder would he be tempted to go back to Aus?mildlyinterested wrote:No word or rumours about where he will be playing next season...
I certainly hope not, and that he stays with us.
Re: The Scott Fardy Appreciation Thread
We have'nt even got a song for Scott yet.
Land down under? anyone?
The tannoy should blast it out when he scores a try.
