Nationality and eligibility are totally different things. For example Hernandez played in Stade for years before Toulon and was even in Racing for a few years too. So he was eligible through residency. Lobbe and Hayman were in Toulon from 2009 and 2010 respectively so were eligible through residency as well. AFAIK Mitchell and Giteau were the only non-eligible players in that side.

So technically they were ok. But it makes a farce of the rules when Toulon can field a side like that and a team like Leinster, that is primarily home grown, has to choose to leave someone out.

Thats the system we chose - we also don't have to pay our players in the main, they do

Its only a matter of time before we put out a full team costing Leinster Rugby €0 in wages. Bahahahaha

Im trying to think of a witty metaphor for that scenario, but none springs to mind.

Very questionably point as we allow the IRFU keep all TV rights money for EPCR and Pro14 to offset the salary cost which the IRFU pay to Contracted players. Note also that what they pay against the Provinces's players hasn't changed since 2008.

Leinster turnover / revenue is close to €15m - without any TV revenue. There's very few Clubs in Europe who have that on gates, sponsorship and merchandise only - even in France.

If that happens, it would simply be an indication of just how successful Leinster Rugby will have been.
From the ground up.

Slightly digressing but pretty much on topic - Our 2 NIQs for Pro14 during 6 Nations.
We all probably would have liked to see Lowe getting a few games here but will that happen?
We'll most likely be without our 1st choice scrumhalf, and management hasn't shown much trust in McCarthy to date, so JGP will surely be playing in these games.
We will also likely be without Toner & Ryan in 2nd row, as well as 2 out of VdF/Leavy/Conan/Jordi in the backrow (on top of missing Ruddock, SOB and Heaslip) so can we really not play Fardy...?

We probably have a bit more cover in the back three, although we could be without Kearney/Carbery and maybe Larmour or McFadden for some of the games.

Might be no harm to play Lowe sparingly anyway, considering the amount of rugby he's played over the last year. It would be a good opportunity for Barry Daly

After yesterday’s excellent performance from Jamison, and the curates egg from Lowe, I’d say the ‘perm 2 from 3’ selection has probably moved towards Fardy and JGP. For now...

Still have a grá for what James’s brings though. :-)
