All important games I know but if we could win this I'd be fairly confident by the time we face Connacht we would have 1st place in the Conference sown up. Might give us some breathing room

Van Graan in the IT said that there is an agreement in place to play none of the frontline Internationals in this round.

Sure, but we should get guys like Carberry, McFadden etc who haven't played much surely? Maybe guys who've only played a little (mcgrath, Murphy, Cronin etc) too?

Does rest mean no involvement at all or is it just no physical strain. I have never been sure on this one.

I think it is sensible to rest them but it would also be sensible to have them in the environment for team talks and reintegration. I would imagine it could take a few days to remember defensive structures, lineout calls etc.

On the positive side I seem to remember us getting a bounce in performance in the past from reintegrating internationals that had been in a Joe squad for an extended period.

There are some combinations that could really do with a bid of bedding-in before Saracens: Isa-Ringrose, the backrow...whatever the back three will be.
Is it really the case that they are just going to be thrown in against Saracens and roll the dice after 2.5 months?

Cheers. I remember some players being parachuted in for Champions Cup games...didn't realise it was all internationals.

Anyway, for this one: if we can beat Ospreys away, we would be looking pretty likely to have sewn up a home semi-final before the Connacht game, which would be nice.

I’d imagine the team will look something like this:

Dooley, Tracy, Porter, Fardy, Molony, Murphy, Murphy, Conan, JGP, Byrne, Daly, Reid, ROL, McFadden, Kearney.
Subs: Byrne, Byrne, Bent, Kearney, Deegan, McCarthy, Carbery, Byrne

Very little chance in my opinion that Porter will be exempted for this game. His workload in an Irish Camp in which he has played in every game will have been extensive in preparation. No worries to have to put Bent in there however.

Plus you'd imagine anyone in Saturday's 23 will be pissed/hungover until at least Thursday.

That’s a very heavy workload for Bent to deal with, since he played 80 minutes in the last game and he’s been playing very long shifts for consecutive games. Porter only played 20 minutes on Saturday, and he’ll probably play another 20 on Saturday, which isn’t an overly strenuous shift. That being said, I’d say we still won’t get him back, so it looks like Bent will have to play 80 minutes again.

They're coming back off winning a 6N (and possibly a GS), they might not be in the best shape come Monday morning.
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

I'd give a lot of the Irish guys a game off, except the likes of Ferg, Larmour, Cronin, Conan etc who haven't had a huge workload.

I do think we need to see Isa in this.

Would be great to get one of Ruddock or SOB in for this too.

I think that the team to face Ospreys will probably be very similar to that which played Scarlets, except for the addition of Isa. The full Ireland squad will probably be celebrating all week,

Even if they aren't, they'll be recovering all week.

Game being on Saturday will probably help us get a few back. I'd imagine some will be back in training by Thursday.

Certainly you'd expect some bench appearances.
I'd like Carberry to get 40mins at OH.

Carberry is going to be the big dilemma for a while. Johnny has to be carefully managed now. Carberry needs to be kept in Leinster. We seem to possibly prefer Byrne at 10. RK is in good form and we have inexperienced and or defensively flakey wings.
