Most of his caps for Oz were stats. Some stats here http://en.espn.co.uk/statsguru/rugby/pl ... view=match

He should make it marginally less obvious where he lives.limecat wrote:https://twitter.com/JoeTomane29/status/ ... 3439554561

Re: Joe Tomane
Admittedly it's hard to tell from a few photos, but he looks a bit more svelte than he did for Montpellier last season, and I think with a full pre-season the Leinster fitness guys will have him in good shape.
Welcome Joe!
Welcome Joe!
Re: Joe Tomane
He looks a lot leaner. He's lost a few kgs of body fat by the looks of it, and maybe one or two kgs of muscle. He was listed at 106 kg for Montpellier, I think a leaner build suits 'the Leinster way' a bit more anyway!wixfjord wrote:Admittedly it's hard to tell from a few photos, but he looks a bit more svelte than he did for Montpellier last season, and I think with a full pre-season the Leinster fitness guys will have him in good shape.

Re: Joe Tomane
It does, but not too much hopefully. He'll be very beneficial as a heavy carrier at 12/13 in league games.
Re: Joe Tomane
Interestingly he's down as 115kg on the site!
No way he could be that big surely? That's heavier than Rhys Ruddock!

Re: Joe Tomane
I'd say that was his weight when he arrived in from Montpellier (they probably massaged down his true weight) but he looks lighter now. He's variously listed as 6'2" - 6'3" and is built like a brick s***house. He looked very slightly overweight at Montpellier and when you factor in all the muscle mass he has it's not impossible that he would have been 115 kg.wixfjord wrote:Interestingly he's down as 115kg on the site!

Re: Joe Tomane
How much of that is his hair though?
Re: Joe Tomane
He looked very heavy when they came over here to play. They don't focus as much on an athlete's diet in France as they do over here: they've an incredibly engrained culture of food and wine over there, for one thing. In a long slog of a season – including four winter months – there's little point in losing 2-3 largely aesthetic kgs if you're comfortable at the weight. It's a particularly attritional league and carrying a bit of conditioning probably does no harm.neiliog93 wrote:I'd say that was his weight when he arrived in from Montpellier (they probably massaged down his true weight) but he looks lighter now. Re: Joe Tomane
Interesting what he says about Fardy being a big reason he came. Makes sense as there is a person he knows and their wives get on.
But if Tomane turns out to be a big success, some of that can definitely be attributed to Fardy. What an influence he will have had on the club if that comes to pass

He's gotten awfully fond of that brick

Re: Joe Tomane
Got to have Fardy stay at Leinster past this season IMO.
Re: Joe Tomane
He'll be 35 at the start of next season if he does stay on....
A wonderful signing based on last season's contribution alone.

Don't see a problem with that, given his position.Lar wrote:He'll be 35 at the start of next season if he does stay on....

35 for the 19-20 season
36 for the 20-21 season
Re: Joe Tomane
I thought Fardy might've had an impact alright. Good to see.
Am sure Leo asked him for advice on Tomane too.

Re: Joe Tomane
No reason he can't do a Simon Shaw working in the row, we let a veteran lock/6 go before (Hines) and it hurt us in the mix for silverware. Lesson learned hopefully.mildlyinterested wrote:Don't see a problem with that, given his position.Lar wrote:He'll be 35 at the start of next season if he does stay on....

Re: Joe Tomane
Fardy has low mileage on the clock, only went pro at 27/28.

Re: Joe Tomane
The only thing stopping Fardy from staying one more year is whatever stopped Hines, Pienaar and Van Der Merve.
