Re: Joe Tomane
Tomane posted online this morning confirming he was leaving Montpellier and France. I wonder does that mean we'll hear of his next move soon enough...?

Good stuff. Looking forward to having him.
In terms of need we have room for a good winger and a need for depth at 12.
Other positions like hooker and lock have depth requirements but we were unlikely to be permitted to sign someone and the need was further down the depth chart.

Re: Joe Tomane
This is probably not good news for Noel Reid and probably Adam Byrne you'd imagine. One of Daly, DK or Frawley might be required to play a bit of 15 next year too if Larmour and RK are in Irish squads.

This feels like getting a new dog when I haven't finished grieving for the old one yet...not sure I can ever accept him.
Re: Joe Tomane
It's a tricky one. JGP, Fardy and Lowe will all be available during international windows but can't all be selected. We're also short at 12. So if you look at where he may fit then:wixfjord wrote:This is probably not good news for Noel Reid and probably Adam Byrne you'd imagine. Byrne Byrne Bent
Molony Fardy
Murphy Deegan Doris
McGrath Byrne
Tomane ROL
Lowe Dave McFadden
Or, if we're selecting Fardy and JGP:
Byrne Byrne Bent
Molony Fardy
Murphy Deegan Doris
JGP Byrne
Tomane ROL
Daly Dave McFadden
Ferg might give way to Adam Byrne and end up benching if Byrne can find some form again. Injuries will give others a shot at times, but the big loser here in Reid. An O'Brien or two could well move ahead of him this season. But this shouldn't come as a huge surprise. Reid has a lot of good attributes, but has never really demanded a place in the squad.

Meh
I was excited for Lowe when he was announced, but with Tomane I'm just not entirely convinced
That said I can't judge until I see his benefits, so I guess I'll just wait

Re: Joe Tomane
Anybody clear in terms of selection rules vs Lowe, Fardy and JGP?
Flash ahhhh ahhh, he'll save every one of us

Re: Joe Tomane
He has a Samoan passport so won't be effected by those particular rules. We'll still need to pick two of JGP/Fardy/Lowe for next season.Flash Gordon wrote:Anybody clear in terms of selection rules vs Lowe, Fardy and JGP?

Welcome Joe! In with one Joe, out with an other.
His apparent enthusiasm (in Leos words) to join gives me a lot of hope that he'll make a very decent signing. In my (v. amature) opinion, he could with with trimming down a bit to adjust to the faster game he'll be playing. He could be a serious weapon to have against some of the pro14 fodder* in particular!
*no disrespect to the league, as I actually think it's improved out of sight in recent years

Re: Joe Tomane
We can use him as a specialist winger, as a specialist centre or as a versatile guy moving about.
Him and Lowe make a powerful wing selection. He can cover Lowe on his off days.
He can alternate with Henshaw and let Henshaw get some time at 13 (valuable for Ireland).

I like that the media guys prompted him to talk about mentoring the kids too.ChrisUppy wrote:Welcome Joe! In with one Joe, out with an other.

We need a 12. We need not to have our midfield run over during international windows/rest periods. We need a big game player should henshaw or ringrose get hurt.
I have full faith that he won’t block development. I think leo has shown that the academy is the priority (after winning doubles of course).

Without it I don't think Munster will survive
Re: Joe Tomane
ROL will benefit big time from this I think. He seemed lost playing with Reid at times last year, and isn't strong enough to be the better defender and main carrier in a centre partnership. With Tomane at 12 it'll be a big weight off him on both sides of the ball.

Tomane has a long way to go before he displaces Ferg. He had an unbelievable year, and comfortably outplayed him when he played against us.backrower8 wrote:I like this potential line-up from Joe.ie:
