I’m not sure if it’s finalised but Leinster are supposedly building a center of excellence in each of the five regions. This will help in producing players from the youth stream.

Yeah, I know that. It’s the towns where the centres are to be based that I was asking on.

The first of these is being built at a cost of €1.3m at the Old Wesley end of Energia Park, with a large gymnasium, changing-rooms, offices and meeting rooms, to be used by Leinster’s underage teams and sub academy.

They are looking to build others in Dundalk, Carlow, Athlone or Maynooth, and Naas, so that future versions of Sean O’Brien, Tadhg Furlong, Tom Daly, Peter Dooley and co, won’t have to travel to Dublin for training.

5 games before the QF.

A reasonable run of games to see more academy players. Who's next up Kelleher?

Yeah it's somewhat surprising he hasn't played already given there are only 3 senior hookers on the books.

Senior caps for Academy players this season:

Conor O'Brien - 5 starts, 3 sub appearances
Hugh O'Sullivan - 7 sub appearances
Ciaran Frawley - 2 starts, 4 sub appearances
Hugo Keenan - 3 starts
Scott Penny - 3 starts
Jimmy O'Brien - 1 start, 2 sub appearances
Oisin Dowling - 1 sub appearance
Jack Kelly - 1 sub appearance
Paddy Patterson - 1 sub appearance

Hopefully we see something from Ronan Kelleher, heard great things and with Cronin 33 and the two boys behind him being average it’s the one poisition I think we’re light. You would imagine COB, HOS and Ciaran Frawley will be offered senior contracts for next season and taking his injury into account a development contract for Keenan. Jack Kelly and JOB have a bit to do over the next 4 months but thankfully with the conference settles they should have plenty of opertunities.

listening to the egg chasers podcast and one of the lads on it said he was told by someone in leinster that Harry Byrne was a generational talent coming through the academy and that he was the one to watch out for when Sexton called it a day.

Which I found surprising.

Feck it - only a short matter of time before a player born this millennium plays for Leinster. That makes me one seriously old git.

If Aaron O'Sullivan's ma had held on for another couple of weeks he could have been the first. I have clothes older than some of these lads.
