Do you think Kelly, Keenan and J O’Brien will all be given senior contracts?
I've heard the JOB deal is already done. Not sure on Keenan or Kelly though.

Doesn't look great for Kelly with Kelleher getting re-signed though. But a year Dev deal wouldn't cost too much and a good chance to see what he's made of

correction: Hugo Keenan will be 23 at the start of next season, not 22.

I think Kelly is playing 7's for the rest of the season, along with Silvester.

Perhaps with guys like Beirne getting away Leinster may have a closer look at players on dev contract before releasing them in future.

If there are less NIQ players that might make it more likely also.

Think Tom Farrell is a better example than Beirne, who got a dev contract but couldn't stay healthy.

But then again that was mostly back in the bad ole MOC days and the start of Leo's tenure, minus Lancaster.

I was thinking he was a worse example because he went away to the lower leagues in England and then had a few years in Connacht before coming good while Beirne lit the place up straight away

neither got enough opportunities at leinster, thankfully that's changed and academy players are getting more and more chances at a younger age.

Kelly is also still young. If you get into the academy early and don't bolt or have injuries, you can time out quickly.

It's different for everyone but if you have the talent to come in young you're usually worth a punt for an extra season. Unless there are specific reasons otherwise.

Liam Turner won man of the match in the 20's game on Friday.

Penny was subbed off, hopefully he didn't pick up an injury.

No sign of Jack Kelly, Tommy O'Brien or Michael Silvester at training yesterday. Injured or 7's?

no sign of Oisin Dowling either.

He might be involved with us this week and away from the 20's until the French game.

Penny might.

Apparently Tommy O'Brien has done damage to his knee, season likely over.

Marginally off topic, but I wonder what the protocol is for minutes managed for players such as Penny.

The games he is involved in would be less physical than senior knockout rugby and at 19 you'd assume his recovery time is pretty quick.

But he will have played a lot of games in a row between Leinster and Under 20s potentially over this period

well they are definitely being managed.

suppose it depends on what markers they use and how Penny is recovering after each game.

Interview with Turner

https://www.the42.ie/ireland-u20s-liam- ... 2-Feb2019/

He is being listed at 6ft, which he is not, more accurate height is 5'8 to 5'9.
