Murphy opted to leave after returning from long term injury and slowly building form, in a competitive squad position.

We also lost Carbery due to to injury disruption, first Kearney moving him to fullback then injury with Ireland stopping him getting a chance at 10.

Jack McGrath struggled with a knee injury and then had knee surgery. And the timing was right for him looking for a fresh start.

We've lost 4 players (controversially) to other provinces in 3 years. Game time was a factor and gametime was highly affected by injuries at decisive times. Maybe they were unrelated in some cases.

If we (fans, in aggregate) are quick to bypass players because of one badly timed injury then it will feed into players.

If Connors had looked at Penny getting gametime and decided that he was going to have a hard time getting back into the team (especially pre-Leavy injury) he might have looked to move. It's important that guys who get hurt get a chance again when they're fit. If they're always hhurt it's different. That's essential for good squad management.

murphy left leinster because he wasn't playing in europe not because leinster fans were overlooking him.

carbery left because he wasn't playing 10, McGrath because he wasn't playing in europe and his irish place was at risk.

All of these players left due to coaches deciding to play other players ahead of them, i'm not sure what that has to do with the fans "bypassing them" :?

Fans didn't bypass any one, Jordi was clear, he said Joe told him he hadn't seen enough of him and it was pretty obvious that Joe wanted Carbery playing week in week out at outhalf. Jack clearly hasn't been getting game time since the 6 Nations and doesn't seem to believe that he can displace Church,

Have these moves worked out? Jordi has had an excellent season up North and is a marquee player. Carbery, I'd argue, has played but his development has been less than exponential. McGrath, we'll see.

Have these moves hurt Leinster, undoubtedly. One of the reasons we lost to Saracens in the Champions Cup final was that we had very little to impact off the bench, depth matters. Would Joey have changed the game? Who knows, could he, most definitely.

I agree with all of that. These players left to further their ireland careers, two of them leaving mid-contract.

I'm really excited about seeing more of Connors. His performance in Kingspan Ravers at the end of the year was very impressive. He's high energy with a great tackle technique. Looks to me like he could be a good foil for JVDF.

I'm glad Rob signed too. He would have been able to get 2 years elsewhere and he could have happily called it a day after the RWC and gone out on a high.

Farrell will have a lot on his plate and Rob is a key player with a key role defensively.

Do Penny and Harry Byrne not have injuries keeping them out of the JWC?

They did. And they all would have played more leading up to decision time and been more secure if they hadn’t been dragged into a selection battle while injured.

Think I'd go for:

1. Peter Dooley
2. James Tracy
3. Michael Bent
4. Ross Molony
5. Scott Fardy
6. Josh Murphy
7. Will Connors
8. Max Deegan
9. Jamison Gibson-Park

18. Vakhtang Abdaladze
19. Jack Dunne
20. Caelan Doris
21. Hugh O'Sullivan/Paddy Patterson
22. Harry Byrne
23. Jimmy O'Brien

Obviously there'll be rotation and the likes of the Byrne twins, Dunne, Doris, Penny, Adam Byrne and maybe Kelleher and Tomane will get starts. It would be good to see Tommy O'Brien finally see some action as well.

No more choosing between Fardy, Lowe and JCB.
What a massive pain in the hole that was.
It's like we gained a new player.
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

Can remember seeing him in one of the games during the 6N (might have been home game v Kings) where he looked like he was carrying a knock but as it didn't seem to be holding him back in any of his subsequent appearances I didn't think much of it.

He quietly went through a period of games, end of 6N IIRC, where he wasnt selected.

Fits now.
