Does anyone think this detracts somewhat from the competition, and the rules should be tweaked to avoid this scenario?

It could go something like "In the event that the seedings produce one or more QFs involving teams from the same pool, the seedings of the three lowest-ranked sides will be adjusted so that no two teams from the same pool can meet again until the final"
3, Saracens and Glasgow would be a repeat too. Isn't the GAA trying out something to avoid repeat matchups in the QF's?

Yes. Yes. Yes.

For two reasons - Glasgow will not win in Sarries but also because it's boring. Who wants to play the same team 3 times in a season? Bad enough in the Pro14.

2? Try 3!!

Sarries v Glasgow (this being the worst as it'll be a repeat of today's fixture)
Racing v Ulster
Leinster v Toulouse

The only game not a repeat would be Edinburgh v Munster

it is not just the champions cup...connaught meet sale in the quarters of the challenge....seems like they haven't thought it through. I like the idea of top seedings getting a home quarter and semi final if they get through....but meeting pool opponents in the QTRs is not on. tweaks needed. definitely.

that said. with just 1 english team making it through to the quarters of the champions cup....I imagine the english will have different ideas on how to "tweak" the competition.

In the unlikely event that Leinster lose at the Ricoh tomorrow, and Toulouse win with a BP, the QFs would then be:

Saracens v Glasgow
Racing v Leinster
Edinburgh v Ulster
Toulouse v Munster

In the even more unlikely event that Toulouse fail against Bath, but Leinster secure top spot in Pool 1, we then get:

Saracens v Toulouse
Racing v Glasgow
Leinster v Ulster
Edinburgh v Munster

And, for real longshot backers, if both Leinster and Toulouse fail, and don't even get a LBP, it will be:

Saracens v Toulouse
Racing v Glasgow
Edinburgh v Ulster
Munster v Leinster (might be a bit of niggle there)

Move this to the Aviva to help pay off Munster debt to the IRFU.

I hope that one of the QFs is Racing V Toulouse because I think that Toulouse have a good chance of beating Racing and Leinster would then have a home SF if we win tomorrow and our QF.

I'm sure you could get tickets to see Ulster v Toulouse.

Weekend of March 29th, 30th and 31st, Brexit.
You'd need a green card just to get to the Aviva.

The following is a list of all the people who believe that the UK will leave the EU on 29 March:

1. Theresa May
2. ... errr ...
3. ... That's it.

Haven't seen this said, so apologies if it has been.

But...

If we win today, would it be better for us if Toulouse won without a TBP?

Would mean:
Racing v Toulouse
Us v Ulster

Since highest seed gets the home semi, it would be far more likely that Toulouse would beat Racing in Paris than Ulster.

If that happened and we beat Ulster, it would mean a home semi v Toulouse in the Aviva.

All ifs and ands, but to me that would be a good outcome.

Yeah, have seen that mentioned somewhere, but I think the general consensus would rather see Toulouse travel to Paris alright. Toulouse haven’t played Racing away in the league this season but they beat them pretty handily in Toulouse.

Racing have looked like a far better team at home however, so not convinced Toulouse would fare any better than Ulster.

Do we know which day the Leinster tie will be ie 29,30, or 31st? I want to book a flight over for it. Will it be easy /difficult to get tickets?

Good chance a semi in France would be on a Sunday. The Question is where Racing would play it? Moved to Bordeaux last year

Just to be clear, the QF's are held on 29th,30th or 31st of March. Leinster win today its in Dublin. I would think these dates get sorted by Wednesday.

Semi's are 19th,20th or 21st of April. They wont settle any of these dates until the QF's are done.
