Baird's mailing is very good for a 20 year old.
Re: Leinster Preseason 19-20
Ref is hilarious. Basically coaching Canada and shouting at them to 'leave it' but giving pens instantly and silently against us

Try from Keenan I think?

Game over 35-38.
Good win in a competitive game.
Hope that ref doesn't ever make it across the pond!

Could anyone make out what Canada captain was saying at the end? He seemed to be suggesting try shouldn’t stand as ref had to go to TMO review - which he felt wasn’t allowed as final whistle had gone?

Maybe I’m just being really stupid here Dave but I don’t remember that being a ruleDave Cahill wrote:Yep, that was his point alrightXanthippe wrote:wixfjord wrote:Try from Keenan I think?

I’m sure I remember Leo Cullen (when Leinster captain) getting a match result ‘reversed’ by insisting the referee review a try decision after the final whistle

Re: Leinster Preseason 19-20
There has been some stuff over the last few years in terms of unions getting clarifications on what can happen after a ref blows the final whistle. One I know of is that if a ref blows the final whistle but a touchjudge has signalled foul play or an offence before the whistle blew the ref must go back to the offence but if the TJ signals the offence after the whistle, then he shouldn't. Ardron was saying to the ref that they had been told that if the final whistle has been blown then the ref cannot go back to the TMO for a review, but I don't know if thats a local or a global interpretation.

Also, someone has pointed out on Twitter that they thought that the ref didn't blow for full time, rather he blew time off so he could review.
Ultimately, however it was arrived at, the right decision was arrived at

The near side AR was 'interesting' to watch too! Either adding or subtracting 5-10 metres to suit Canada on some kicks into touch.Xanthippe wrote:It almost feels like he’s coaching the Canada teamD4surfer wrote:Some of that is the ref making it up as he goes along. 19 all now with conversion to come.
Notice the Canada player standing in front of the pad as Leinster attacked the line with everyone else on the line?

Re: Leinster Preseason 19-20
I didn't understand the conversation at the end either. It was clearly a try but fair enough if the ref wanted to have it reviewed. Did he actually blow the final whistle, ruling it as not try, before going to TMO or not just go straight to the TMO?
Re: Leinster Preseason 19-20
I remember an incident like that in a game we lost at home to Ulster in 2013. Sean Cronin was held up over the line with the clock in the red. Clancy blew for full-time but then decided to review whether Cronin had grounded the ball or not. TMO review was inconclusive and try was not awarded.Xanthippe wrote:
