Apparently to a man leinster's pack were on top yesterday, with Coleman, Hickey and Soroka in particular being to the fore.

Cosgrave & Osborne pick of leinster's backs.
Yeah I went to the game as it was just down the road from me. They were seriously impressive, forwards and backs. Scrum, maul and lineout were all excellent, as was their tackling.
Couldn't believe the quality of the 14's kicking, he was also extremely quick for his try.
Cosgrave was kicking Touchline conversions in Old Belvedere regularly at the age of 12 - when he was a forward (had size then. Loved contact but moved like a back). Always had a great attitude as did his partner in crime Will Hickey.

Cosgrave was very impressive when I saw him at fullback for Ireland a few months ago. He can read a game well, has speed, was solid under the high ball and has the skills. His size would be my only concern but he's time on his side to grow.

I don’t see how people can see Chris Cosgrave’s size as a concern, for his age he’s the size of an average centre/ back three for his age if not bigger than average. He’s around 6’1 or 6’2 with lean muscle mass,I honestly don’t see how size is a problem, if he doesn’t make it because he’s considered not big enough then the game is ruined

He won't not make it because he is considered not big enough.. given his talent he will be given every opportunity that's clear. He just may be more suited to a back three position long term than playing outside centre... it's a case of wait and see how he develops over the next few years..

4 of those prospects played in the same mini rugby team in Old Belvedere. Guinane, Hickey, Gilsenan & Cosgrave. Ed Kelly and Zach Harrison (Leinster 18s & 19s) we’re also on that team and several others have gone right through to play SCT: Wilkinson & Dowling (Clongowes) and FitzGerald, Kirby O’Briain & Morgan (Gonzaga). All on one team from 6 to 12 years old. They won everything they entered. It was quite a crop.

I remember when they were in primary school and every day before during and after school they would always have a rugby ball in their hand passing the ball to each other, kicking or playing a game of tip. No wonder they’re a very talented age group, they’re very tight and have been playing rugby with each other from a very young age practicing day and night. It’s no surprise they’ve all the skills in the world.

The 2019/20 Shane Horgan Cup kicks off this week with the first round of fixtures taking place at Cill Dara RFC in the North Midlands area.

Last year’s U16 competition met an exciting finish with both North Midlands and South East representative teams sitting joint top of the table heading into the final round.

The crown eventually went the way of North Midlands for the first time thanks to their 23-8 win over the Midlands area in the final game.

With Metro having a narrow 27-26 victory over South East in the other final round game which proved to be one of the best contests of the competition, that left the North Midlands area sitting alone on top at the close of business.

All sides will be looking to get off to the perfect start on Friday when the action starts.

North Midlands will face Midlands in Round 1’s first game at 6.45pm which is followed by South East and Metro locking horns at 7.45pm.

North East have received a BYE for the first round and will start their campaign in Round 2 against South East on Wednesday, 30 October.

They should make it Leinster u21s and not only pick u20s/ u19s for sub academy. Not the most talented crop we’ve had for a while considering there’s better outhalves at club u20 level. James Tarrant being one of them. Surprised Justin Leonard isn’t there either. Very questionable descisons

Sub academy doesn't have a max age, you could be 24 and in it for all Leinster care, just not very attractive for players

McKenzie has a strong chance at being the irish u20 Outhalf, he was the 1st choice irish schools Outhalf when u18. He played leinster A last week and scored a try on his debut after missing all of last season with a knee injury.. He is more than good enough.

Someone like Tarrant was looked at last season and considered not good enough. You may not like corkery but he was the 1st choice Outhalf for Leinster 19s and is obviously rated. Leonard is still very young and could easily force his way into sub-academy at a future date.

I know but they usually pick younger players and don’t usually pick u21s

They usually pick younger players because they've looked at the older players already. The player you mentioned was in the sub academy last season and was let go.
