Prop
Jack Aungier(Suttonians RFC/Clontarf) - made 1st team debut.. Looks on course to get dev deal.
Michael Milne(CC Roscrea/UCD) - made 1st team debut.. Doubtful he gets early promotion unless pressured from outside.
Tom Clarkson(Blackrock/DUFC) - potential Ireland u20 captain.
Ramon Salanoa(Old Belvo) - made 1st team debut, lots of developing to be done.

Hooker
Dan Sheehan(Clongowes/Lanadowne) - star for A team and impressive in AIL. Will aim to make 1st team debut in 2nd half of season, could graduate early.

Lock
Oisin Dowling(St. Michaels/Lansdowne) - in and around senior team but under pressure from younger players for playing time.. Needs big 2nd half of season.
Jack Dunne(St. Michaels/DUFC) - key member of A team.. Injured soon after and not returned at time of writing. Injury unknown.
Ryan Baird(St. Michaels/DUFC) - played for seniors before injury. Return expected soon.
Charlie Ryan(Blackrock/UCD) - captained A team but injured soon after in AIL. not returned at time of writing. Injury unknown.

Backrow
Brian Deeny(Wexford RFC/CLontarf) - playing AIL for Clontarf, should feature heavily for 20s.
Martin Moloney(Athy RFC/Old Belvedere) - injured since preseason.

Scrumhalf
Patrick Patterson(Blackrock/UCD) - currently 5th choice.. Playing some 7s.. Faces uphill battle for game time.

Outhalf
Harry Byrne(St. Michaels/Lansdowne) - made 1st team debut and has looked very promising in any game time he has gotten. Looks certain to graduate after this season.
David Hawkshaw(Belvedere/Clontarf) - injured since last season.

Outside Backs
Gavin Mullin(Blackrock/UCD) - key member of A team, absent recently with injury. Future at Leinster looks unclear.
Tommy O'Brien(Blackrock/UCD) - made 1st team debut, certain to be offered dev deal.
Michael Silvester(Clongowes/DUFC) - involved with 7s this season.
Aaron O'Sullivan(Exile/Blackrock) - involved with 7s this season.
Liam Turner(Blackrock/DUFC) - involved with 7s this season.

Don't know if they have academy contracts but Ronan Watters(Backrow) and Cormac Foley(Scrumhalf) training with the rest of the academy at senior training today. Martin Moloney also pictured back training.

Good mix of players but not many breakthoughs so far.

Milne has made a few appearances but isnt getting talked about much, relatively.

Our expectations have risen so high, so quickly, that what we now consider a 'breakthrough' would have been considered extraordinary even three years ago.

The performances of such as Harry Byrne, Ronan Kelleher, Ryan Baird, Tommy O'Brien, Rowan Osborne and the development of players like Jordan Larmour, James Ryan, Andrew Porter, Ross Byrne, Ciaran Frawley, Will Connors, Caelan Doris, and Josh Murphy has been measured and superbly managed in accordance with the skills and personality of each individual.

There have been departures, some high profile and others high potential. But none have been accompanied by the sort of explosions of personal or media outrage which often cause long-term damage to both personalities and relationships.

Very significant development continues to occur but the pace of it is now much more related to the individual's attributes.

However, one of the flies in the ointment is the significance of injuries in young players who have been promoted quickly to exposure on the senior team. The two young second-rows, Dunne and Ryan, who both performed well for the senior team (and exceptionally well for the A Team) last year have both been completely absent this Season with unidentified injuries. However, thus far Leo has not pushed players or coaches to rush guys back from injury in a manner which might place their long-term career at risk.

Not sure about that I'd expect Byrne and Baird to graduate early from the academy after this season. Sheehan could join them given his progress this season.

Is this this season? I don't recall Mullin or Patterson featuring in any 23s in 2019/2020.

This is one of the really annoying aspects of the website - if someone hasn’t played this season then their last seasons page is left up so at a quick glance it looks like (for example) Barry Daly has played 9 games so far this season
