Leinster vs. Munster
OK, focusing on the actual match at hand...here's how I see it...
15: Dempsey vs. Cullen/Payne....Leinster
14: Shaggy vs. Kelly..................Leinster
13: Drico vs. TOL......................Leinster
12: D'arcy vs. Halstead..............Leinster
11: Hickie vs. Horgan................Leinster
10: Felipe vs. ROG....................Leinster
9: Easterby vs. Strings...............Munster
8: Heaslip vs. Foley...................Even
7: Gleeson vs. Wallace..............Even
6: Cletus vs. Leamy..................Even
5: Williams vs. POC..................Munster
4: MOK vs. DOC.......................Leinster
3: Green vs. Hayes...................Leinster
2: Blaney vs. Flannerry..............Munster
1: Horan vs. Reggie..................Munster
That makes Leinster 8-Munster 3, Even in 4....
We far outshine them in the backs, of that there is no doubt. The back row is "interesting". Wallace and Gleeson are different players, and both brilliant at it. Similarly with Heaslip and Foley, each suiting their different teams styles. Thats why I called the back-row even.
Again parity up front will bring victory, which we can do.....

Horgan isn't our 11., Dowling is. Hickie would still be ahead of him, but not by much. Hickie is a fading talent IMHO, but a great try against Toulouse. Toher than that the only other arguement with the back 5 I'd have is that I honestly think D'Arcy is playing rather poorly. Halstead doesn't have 1/10th the raw talent that D'Arcy has but he's playing to the best of his ability. D'Arcy was probably the worst Leinster player against Toulouse.
Strings is having his best season in years. He's wiping the floor with Easterby at the moment.
And I don't agree with the 2 out of the front 5 that you've given to Leinster for a second. How can you say Strings and Easterby are Even but that MOK is clearly better than DOC....

Even if Dowling plays....Hickie is better. D'arcy is NOT having a bad season. Unforetunately everybody remembers D'arcy in 2004 rippin Wales apart. He makes yards every time he has the ball, and while he hasnt 'broken' the line, he brings in other players around him, and supports players very well.
MOK is better than DOC.full stop. He has been all season, hence why he started for Ireland.

Have you seen much of Easterby this year? I think it's fair to say he's also having his best season in years if not ever. Stringer is far from wiping the floor with him. I do admit that Stringer has been playing better than usual -'Even' probably isn't too far off the mark.daveirl wrote:Strings is having his best season in years. Have no idea how you can disagree with Green above Hayes? He's pretty much the leader of our pack these days.
MOK and DOC has been argued to death on this board - not going to go there except to put it on the record I'm with True Blue on that one too!

Doc has been an average player at the highest level. Mal is streets ahead - and Chieka knows how to get the best of him. He has been outstanding in EVERY game this season for Leinster. Doc has been in and out of the Turnipstan game, and there's a reason for that.
At this level Guy does all that's asked - his all round play is better than Stringer's - and he can tackle - not a once every 3 years tap tackle, but full on fringe of the scrum contact.
Agree with most of the face offs - though I think Gleeson is on a different plant to Wallace and I'd probably give Leamy and Jamie a slight edge currently.

Flash ahhhh ahhh, he'll save every one of us
Its hard to analyse the back row. Gleeson as a 7 is the best openside in Ireland/North Hemisphere. Wallace is a quality player, but I personally think as a 6 or an 8. Wallace suits the Munster game. Both back-rows are balanced to the game each side plays. Leinsters are quick and agile, while Munsters are big and powerful ball carriers.

And I'd luv to see him do the same job on RO'G that he did on Freddie. Could be the key to the game given RO'Gs waining confidence!epaddy wrote:The thing about the back rows is that both suit eachothers game plan pretty well. We may have a slight advantage with Gleeson being an out and out openside

I think it's something to do with the rotation of the earthDuff Paddy wrote:don't quote me on this, but some of them foreign types play left and right flankers instead of blindside and openside.thecoolfreak wrote:I knew that was the case in SA but in France? In France and South Africa the numbers are reversed for some reason, the openside wears 6 and the blind wears 7
