New Stadium Announcer?

Post by dingoxh »

Did anyone else notice a change in the man behind the mike at the Glasgow game?

Have to say, much better than the previous clown. Clear, confident voice......

Views anyone?

Was initially impressed with the fact that he was clearer but the very least I expect from an announcer is that they are able to pronounce the names of our players. It's embarrassing when visiting players names are pronounced incorrectly but unforgivable when it's our own that are pronounced wrong.

When Leo Auva'a' starting playing for us I asked him for the correct pronounciation of his name and he was delighted that someone had thought to ask rather than assuming they knew what to say. Can't imagine it would be taken the wrong way if our announcer were to ask for a phonetic guide to players names. FFS, even John Cooney's name was pronounced wrong.

Also, each name was pronounced with that dreadful rising inflection which makes everything sound like a question.

Well, you did ask!!

Edit: Oops, just noticing now you're not the most prolific poster - I hope you're not the new announcer on here looking for compliments

Which of the many versions that we hear is actually the correct one out of curiosity?

Well, I am a long time reader of the site but a rare poster... you can sleep easy, I am not the new man with the mike!

Also, I am just realising that I posted this thread in the wrong sub-section! HOw do I go about getting it moved to the correct area?

Phew, so glad to hear that I hadn't, unintentionally, insulted you.
