According to the BBC site, Jones is replacing Ferris, who is injured.

Terrible shame for Ferris! Thought Jones got a bad head injury on Saturday which meant he'd be out for a couple of weeks? He certainly wouldn't have been my choice to replace him anyway!

Gutted. He was playing excellently and could have made a huge impact in the tests. Have thought since his 6 Nations that he'd be the Lions 6. Really gutted for him. Serious dent in the Lions' chances.

Thats awful for him, would have been a contender for Lions player of the tournament in my view if he kept up his current form, excellent start to the series. What a disaster though also for Irish participation, now that O'Leary, Flannery, Ferris are out, and Quinlan shot his own foot off, or sorry, hand.

That's a serious blow to the Lions' chances of winning the series, losing POC would quite possibly be less of a blow. They really have been incredibly unlucky with injuries - Steve Borthwick will have to be called out before you know it!

Ignoring the team aspect of things, Ferris really deserved the chance to face the Springboks after his season and tour to date. He's the kind of player who will use this painful experience to improve his overall game though. Mark my words, he will be man of the match against the Springboks in Croke Park in November.

Gutted for Stephen Ferris, he's been going so well. Had a major chance of making the test side.

Tomorrow's back row starting to look like the starters for the 1st test, assuming no further injuries. Martyn Williams is running out of time if he's still not fit. On the plus side I'd prefer to have Ryan Jones available to cover 8 rather than Andy Powell, so not all bad news.

That's an awful end to the Ferris Croft debate. Although I agree with the post above saying Ryan Jones (have to add the caveat of "on good form") is a far better number 8 replacement than Powell. Hope nothing happens to Croft now or the test backrow could start to look a bit limited, thought Heaslip really complemented the two blindsides when they played together.

I watched Ryan Jones in Thomand Park last month. Complete waste of space, workrate was non existent. He'll have a nice moment or two where he'll impress people who don't really watch the game anyway so have no idea what happens in the pack and he'll amble around.

This is a double disaster. Ferris was brilliant. Even Croft fans should be down about this. This will weaken the test XXII massively.

Gutted for Ferris. He was really looking like one of the stars of the tour. It's also a big blow to our hopes in the test matches. Huge loss.

Powell might be out too.

I'm not a fan of Ryan Jones at the moment but who's next on the list as a replacement?

I'd have been tempted to go for Leamy or even Nick Easter ahead of Jones.

Ferris looked like the only backrow on Saturday who could match the physicality of of the Cheetah's backrow. A serious blow to any Lion chances. By far the most influential and important player that they have lost so far.

A terrible loss alright, he's been easily one of the most impressive performers so far. Ryan Jones really doesn't inspire much confidence as a replacement.
