Barnes; 'no8 left his leg out deliberatly'
Kaplan; ' what do you recommend'.
Barnes; 'it was a trip'.
Kaplan; 'a trip, yellow card????'
Barnes; 'it was a trip.'
Kaplan; ' oh a trip, yellow card???.'
Barnes;[a little more indignant] , It was a trip'.

He just didn't want to card the guy.

No is the answer to your question.

Why is he so highly rated? Warren Gatland's comments were interesting, but he is so pedantic were officiating in the NH. Have no time for him, and would rather Tony Spreadbury

Even Gerry Thornley was moved to say what rubbish he was on Newstalk-Off THe Ball after the match tonight.

The breakdown has been a nightmare in the last couple of matches, be it a NH [Wayne Barnes] or SH [Jonathan Kaplan] ref. Nobody on the Lions side can predict how the referee is going to play it and there seems to be one rule for the South African sides and one rule for the Lions. What the f*ck happened to the tackler rolling away? The Sharks just lay on the wrong side pretty much all night, and there seems to be no consistency on who is allowed to handle the ball, or where he has to be.

Playing to him, have to say I was surprised to hear Warren had said that, then remembered that he likes to use the media to influence things.
