Speak Welsh like a local and avoid the Heddlu

A few choice phrases to use in Cardiff this coming weekend....

1. Prynhawn Da (prin-hown-da) – Good afternoon;
2. Sut Wyt Ti? (Sit oy-t t?) – how are you?
3. Mae’n braf (Mine brav) – It’s sunny;
4. Cwrw (Coo-Roo) – Beer;
5. Menyw (Menu) – Woman;
6. Bronnau anferth – large cans (make of that one what you will).

Do not say any of these to the Heddlu!

7. Clychau Bant (don’t know where to start with this one phonetically) – a generally bad thing to say number 1;
8. Pidyn (ditto) – a generally bad thing to say number 2;
9. Cochoin (ditto) – a generally bad thing to say number 3;
On a traffic light green means 'go' and yellow means 'yield', but on a banana it's just the opposite. Green means 'hold on,' yellow means 'go ahead,' and red means, 'where the f%~k did you get that banana at?' - Mitch Hedberg
