Leinster's Girvan Dempsey, Jamie Heaslip, Denis Hickie and Rob Kearney have all been called up to the Ireland squad ahead of next Sunday's RBS Six Nations game with Wales...
The additions to the squad will join up with the match 22 that played against France on Saturday, 11th February.
Squad Additions:
Forwards: Marcus Horan, Mick O'Driscoll, Matt McCullough, Jamie Heaslip, Neil Best
Backs: Denis Hickie, Girvan Dempsey, Rob Kearney, Barry Murphy
Munster No.8 Anthony Foley was not considered as he picked up an ankle sprain at the weekend and his place is taken by Jamie Heaslip. John Kelly is also unavailable due to a groin strain with Rob Kearney coming into the backs.
Interesting to see Heaslip called up

Heaslip
If Eddie goes for the same back-row combination against Wales (which he will), he shoud play Heaslip on the bench rather than a specialist 7 in O'Connor (which he won't). Jamie would have such a big impact in the last 15 mins against the tiring Welsh. It seems so obvious but Eddie can be very slow with things like this...took him about 2 years to realise that David Wallace should be in the team!

Yeah but until this season he never did the proper groundhog work like Gleeson or Jennings do. Therefore, I completely agreed with him not starting at 7 for Ireland.
His problem is that he's an excellent back row player but isn't an out-and-out specialist in any of the three positions.
Also, if he was so good, how come Judy was intent on having a back row of Quinlan, Leamy and Foley at the start of the season?
