Really poor form and a horribly cheap effort at sentimentality.

Lomus legacy deserves a lot more than that

Perhaps I am being blinded by how impartial I am as obviously I don't want France to get the bid, but surely it's clear as day how ulterior their motives are? From this to the "committee dining issues" in the 6 nations surely they are painting themselves in a horrible light that anyone with a head on their shoulders can see

If you're in need of a good laugh, take a look at their video featuring Bernard Laporte. Its just short of having an overly tall Englishman disguised as a Gendarme pop his head around the door and say 'gud moaning'.

Summary: They complained their dignitaries got wet (in an outdoor stadium...) and complained their committee were poorly treated prior to their free meal at the post match function.

Comical effort at undermining the IRFU. No one paid any heed and the French came out of it looking worse

Preferred bidder to be announced on Tuesday & final decision Wed 15th Nov.

It will be huge if we get it. Anyone have an idea on how many of the c. 40 votes we are likely to get & whether France or S.Africa are our main competitor.

I am guessing we have Australia in the bag.

Announcement of 3 Test Tour made at the Australian High Performance center with President Higgins there too seems to me like a quid pro quo. You get 3 test maches and a few quid we get the World Cup.

Rumour from a relatively informed person is - we have the following votes in the bank: England (3), Wales (3), NZ (3), USA (1), Canada (1), North America (2) = 13

Romania (1), Georgia (1), Italy (2), Europe (2), Argentina (3), South America (2) are in the bank for France (again, pure rumour) = 11

South Africa only have Africa 2 in the bank and will be eliminated first.

Scotland (3), Australia (3), Oceania (2), Asia (2) & Japan (2) all undecided.

If Aus go for us, Oceania will copy them + NZ and we we'll probably win.

This is a rumour about what is perceived, so take with a collosal boulder of salt.

other than the Lions we're the only country that could sell any tickets for them, theyd have us every year if they could

The 3 match tour that’s scheduled every 12 years as part of the revisions to the calendar a while back?

Technical group recommendatio issued tomorrow. It is non-binding on council members but it would be a big thing for a council member to go against it. Ireland are currently 4/6 favourites.

I think the Poms could shift a few tickets too, SOKs.

We are third in three horse race. Not good.

We did however show great consistency in managing to finish last in each of the 5 criteria. That is some achievement

Just had a quick look at the evaluation report https://www.worldrugby.org/news/291551 and it looks like infrastructure and tournament experience did for us in the end.

The overall rankings also happen to be in the same order as the tournament fees promised by each country.
