could be similar makeup to panel from last time as 5 or 6 Ireland boys will need a rest and we will more than likely have a Leinster v Munster league final a week before the 1st test in Argentina, recquiring most of Ulster's 1st XV

Maybe they will look to rest a lot of our players anyway and they won't be going on the tour at all to Argentina. Certainly any of the Lions will need a good rest.

Darragh Leader should go. He looks a good player. Big, strong, decent speed, solid under the high ball, big boot and good when joining the attack.

Wasn't is Shane Layden the big Connacht FB who had a leg break/serious injury?

Is he still knocking about? Looked good at 20s.

Thats him. Played with the U20s 2 years ago. Was one of the best players of the U20 6 nations and then broke a leg. Havn't heard much from him since.

Year 3 of Connacht academy. Has him down as 180cm which seems about 10cm at least too little.

Was listed on the bench for Buccaneers last week when they played Terenure. Not sure if he got on though. Looked a great prospect in the Under-20s alright but injury sadly appears to have ruined him.

A regretful but all too common story.

Wish him the best in other elements of his life anyway.

Looks like Madigan is going. Not sure who else.

There are going to be depth issues in some positions, such as hooker.

Of the above players, the following played in the Tblisi Cup last June:

6 forwards who were very satisfied with the effects of being selected for the Emerging Ireland Squad and its impact on their careers. Interesting to note that no backs made the transition.

Could the Emerging Ireland Squad to Romania comprise some of the following?:

N Reid, E Sheridan
S Monahan, M Healy, TO'Halloran
I Madigan JJ Hanrahan
L McGrath, P Hart, C Sheridan

Lots of players apparently left out due to injury or excess game time but certainly the longest list ever in that regard and including:

Darcy, Bowe, Fitzgerald, Boss, Healy, Cronin, Strauss, Sherry, Court, Fitzpatrick, Don Ryan, M McCarthy, Ferris, SO'B, etc

Interesting times and once again sorry that James Coughlan didn't get the trip

Think Tuohy is out too.
Is it specifically young / uncapped players or are they liable to bring along the likes of MacCarthy?

Very much doubt it. Don't think age is a disqualifier as such but International experience seems to rule you out.

Games against Russia, Uruguay and Romania so expect a tough confrontation up front if last year is anything to go by. However, if players like Madigan and Keatley are selected, as Joe Schmidt outlined in his press conference, it augurs well for whoever travels with them. Players like Matt Healy, Dave McSharry, Noel Reid, Stuart Olding, Ricky Andrew, Darragh Leader, Cathal Sheridan, Luke McGrath, Robin Copeland, Callum Black, Tadgh Furlong, Aaron Dundon, Dave Foley, Sean Dougal might have some very decent company in which to demonstrate their skills

He was acting as waterboy for Ulster at the weekend. Probably not too far from full fitness.

So Jackson out of Argentina tour meaning Madigan is out of Emerging Ireland. Also strong rumours that Keatley and JJ are having Groin injuries. Who's next up at 10.
Humphries
Steenson
James McKinney
Noel Reid
Jack Carty

anyone else?
