Summer Tours for Other Teams.
Penalty try! Why did Williams do that? It was a cowards tackle.

Terrible play by Wales, dreadful drop goal attempt, they bottled it in the last few minutes and I wouldn't be surprised if Liam Williams is dropped next week.

Re: Summer Tours for Other Teams.
All too typical from Williams. Walsh ignored an awful lot of hindmost foot at the end there, hard lines on Wales.

Re: Summer Tours for Other Teams.
He has been indulging in thuggery and scumbaggery for a long time now, just glad to see some payback. Disappointed for most of the Welsh team who are good players and nice lads, but the snidery of Liam Williams over the years outweighs the good of the rest of them

Re: Summer Tours for Other Teams.
Did Walshey get so engrossed in his own speech to Alun that he forgot to yellow card Williams?
Re: Summer Tours for Other Teams.
No mention of a yellow card that I saw.

No he said that in regards to the penalty try they have to view it as if the defender is non existent and focus on the line that the offensive player was on. So no yellow

Re: Summer Tours for Other Teams.
So Liam Williams was not held accountable for his tackle, just stopping what Walsh decided was a certain try had he not been taken out.

It was still effectively a shoulder charge, something Paddy Jackson knows all about.
Agree with the comment that it was a coward's tackle, he didn't have the guts to back himself to make a proper tackle which he was in a decent position to make. Idiot and a toerag.
Highlights here for anyone who missed the game

Re: Summer Tours for Other Teams.
What Walsh meant by that was when they were examining whether a penalty try was an option or not they take the illegal act out of the situation and see if a try would have been scored. So in this case they were looking at whether the legal tackle that had gone in before Williams would have prevented the try. They decided that the legal tackle was insufficient and the offense prevented "a try that would probably otherwise have been scored". There was no reason not to yellow Williams, it was an error by Walsh as "A player who prevents a try being scored through foul play must either be cautioned and temporarily suspended or sent off."Donny B. wrote:Huh?ichabodscrane wrote:No he said that in regards to the penalty try they have to view it as if the defender is non existent and focus on the line that the offensive player was on. Re: Summer Tours for Other Teams.
Dont think it was cowardly, more idiotic, unnecessary, spiteful and nasty
was unusual for Walsh to spend big chat with AWJ to explain rules/decision in such depth
hopefully citing commissioner will get stuck in

Re: Summer Tours for Other Teams.
Thought AWJ was poor there. Maybe he was trying to distract Walsh from giving a yellow but he was insistent that Williams' hit didn't matter because Hendricks had already gone into touch when North tackled him.....emmmmm no Alun.simonokeeffe wrote:Dont think it was cowardly, more idiotic, unnecessary, spiteful and nasty

Re: Summer Tours for Other Teams.
AWJ was doing what you'd want your captain to be doing.
Williams was doing exactly what we've come to expect Williams to do. A shame for the Welsh really. They deserved that win yet ended up with another gallant defeat.
