Re: Sexton nominated for IRB player of the year
I've made peace with the McCaw decision in 2009. I don't think he was the best player but I don't think it was the robbery that many still think it was. BOD had an exceptional 6N and an excellent Lions tour. But the tour didn't matter a jot, just the test games. He had an excellent first test, a good second test sullied by the Habana try and didn't play in the final test. His autumn was good but certainly not IRB award good.
People always talk about how McCaw was injured for half the season. He started 10 test matches, same as BOD.
The more I think back on that season and the games I watched, the more I think FdP was the one that was most hard done by. He was excellent from start to finish.

Would be nice though to have the World Player of the year joining us next season.
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

Rattallick won? Fine player, but Vermuelan must be feeling a little robbed.

Re: Sexton nominated for IRB player of the year
New Zealand had an 89% win rate for the year and got player, team and coach of the year awards
Ireland had a 90% win rate!

Hard to argue with NZ getting the team award but there was a very strong argument for Joe to get coach of the year.Xanthippe wrote:New Zealand had an 89% win rate for the year and got player, team and coach of the year awards
