2012 - Banned for eight weeks for biting Ireland forward Stephen Ferris in a Six Nations match.
2012 - Banned for two weeks for punching Ulster hooker Rory Best in a Heineken Cup match.
2013 - Sent off in the Aviva Premiership final and banned for 11 weeks after being found guilty of verbally abusing a match official.
2014 - Yellow Carded for starting a brawl against Sale
2014 - Yellow Carded for stamping on Duane Vermeulen in the Autumn Internationals.

A record to be proud of. That said he is still the best hooker England have so don't expect him not to be at the world cup.

Hartley will miss 3 warm up games and 1st WC game, against Fiji. Depends on what other hookers Lancaster has at his disposal.

The 4 week ban carrys him over the line for a year of being banned (total of 54 weeks).

Anyone else see the Huget stamp? There's someone who should be missing for the world cup.

Lancaster/Hartley have publicly said hes on his final warning before this

If Hartley does go then theyve only 2 hookers covering the first game and Hartley would be expected to play against Wales and Australia in a world cup after no rugby for 4 months

Just watched the Huget one, he'll be lucky if his ban runs out before the six nations

Just saw that Huget stamp there. I think it's the worst stamp I've ever seen.

At the moment they don't even appear to be citing him.

That Huget stamp is shocking. I'm a fan of his but there is no way he (or any player) can be allowed to get away with that kind of thing.

Christ, imagine that happened to your kid?

I said the F word very loudly as I watched that, that's disgusting (his behaviour, not my language). He's always been a dirty player but for some reason he doesn't seem to have got much of a reputation for it.

He's lucky that Steenkamp is blocking some of the camera view. It's bad but a clearer camera angle would make it look even worse.

Eye gouging and biting aside(which imo should be punished a lot more severely) the rest is just PC window dressing, a few weeks for a bit of handbags? It should be more tolerated, if two enforcers want to go at it, let them be, like hockey or like rugby league used to be in the 90's before the safety police got involved. Do we want a totally sanitised game, like yankball or soccer?

Ah! The good old days? You really want to see the sort of thuggery that went on then?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egGQ1l7rulo

Or :-

"Canterbury v Lions 1971
The Lions were cutting a swathe through New Zealand ahead of the Test series, and something had to be 'done' to slow their progress before the first Test. Cue one of the bloodiest, most premeditated assaults in rugby history from Canterbury which resulted in Scottish prop Sandy Carmichael, Irish prop Ray McLoughlin and Irish No 8 Mick Hipwell being invalided off the tour, as well as leaving Irish flanker Fergus Slattery with concussion and without two teeth."

Or more recently :-

Handbags? Really? I despair of people like you.

Nothing wrong with a few slaps being thrown, the rest of society has turned into place of feelings everyone being wrapped in cotton wool and all that shite, why should rugby? Its harmless.

I mean this was never a red, McCaw was in the way, had to be removed, he knew the score, if players were allowed police the ruck, police foul play, the game would flow quicker, refs, cards etc either ruin the spectacle or just incessantly slow the game down. There is room for intelligent thuggery on the park. PLayers like McCaw get away with murder and ruin attacking ball because the refs protect them.

I realise the irony, but in 15-20 years time if we were both on the sideline watching our sons play against each other and you clapped and cheered when your son kneed mine in the head for slowing down the ball then I would literally want to kick the living sh!t out of you. What an abhorrent view.

Again, I realise the irony.
