Re: World cup warmups
Irelands Paul O'Connell has come on for Munsters Paul O'Connell
More better stuff, that move was nice, precise and at pace

Heaslip & O'Connell did well for the try. Game on.

Nothing special from Toner, but having him there enables that kind of ball coming from 4.matt wrote:Heaslip & O'Connell did well for the try. Game on.

Brilliant from Johnny to steal and Reddan and Jamie to clear our lines. Much more like what we're used to.

Hard to see us kicking on with those changes but at least we've been far more competitive in this half.

Agree Toner has been awful.

Re: World cup warmups
Furlong did okay in that scrum anyway, pity we butchered it afterwards.
Re: World cup warmups
Maybe it will turn out to be just a bad day but the French will have noticed the number of missed tackles. Would think Joe is livid at the moment.
Re: World cup warmups
We lacked energy so it's very possible we're still on a heavy physical training programme.
Jamie looked knackered at the end and that's unusual.

Re: World cup warmups
That's one of my big concerns. Slightly reminiscent of 07 in that we're conceding an awful lot of ground in contact. Dave Kearney was one big exception to that, can think of four tackles where he got us going forward, one on Brown when we were under severe pressure was particularly brilliant, he must have driven Brown back a good ten metres.
We were slightly better in attack at times but generally that was because the ball carrier had good support and was being driven through the contact as opposed to just winning the collision on his own.

Re: World cup warmups
Shaggy was asked recently if players worried about injuries going into these games and he said that older players are more concerned about peaking at the right time and that they can do that because they know their bodies so well etc. I hope to God he's right and that Best and POC in particular will be in much better shape by the French game. Outside of Poc's try I thought they had very little impact and think Best missed a few tackles.
Re: World cup warmups
England were absolutely terrified about losing that game. A lot of the Sky analysis is pretty funny.
Dont Panic!
Re: World cup warmups
England were well clued in to the kicking game. Can't remember us winning a ball back.

Re: World cup warmups
what the hell is going on with all these injuries in the backline in the warmups?
England's impact subs were telling, Cronin and henderson badly missed. At least Furlong held up ok in his one scrum at LH
