If they ever make a new he-man film, donnacha Ryan must get the skeletor role.

You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

A case for a peno try for Zebo.
Was he pushed into touch late, after the kick thru?

SOB's control at the scrum is poor.
If Heaslip had to come off early in a big game I'd be worried about SOB going to 8.
I'm making the case for Murphy on the bench.
That could be bad news for POM.

I don't think Jordi Murphy's best mate would make the case for him on the bench.Oldschool wrote:SOB's control at the scrum is poor.

I don't know his best mate so I'll have to take your word for it.hugonaut wrote:I don't think Jordi Murphy's best mate would make the case for him on the bench.Oldschool wrote:SOB's control at the scrum is poor.

Aside from that POM's place in the 23 must be under threat from Henry.hugonaut wrote:I don't think Jordi Murphy's best mate would make the case for him on the bench.Oldschool wrote:SOB's control at the scrum is poor.

Henry was exceptional today.

Henry was great alright, would have been my man of the match. Thought he had a storming performance, all action and very effective. Thought that Richardt Strauss went very well, but that Nathan White was very ordinary. I'd have Furlong on the bench for the Italian game ahead of him.Oldschool wrote: Henry was exceptional today.
Dev Toner didn't do himself many favours apart from the restart catch and run. Donnacha Ryan had a reasonable game, good bit of hard work and some nice footballing touches.

Not sure that it is POM that should be worried by Henry's performance. They play in different positions, and pom is vital to our strong lineout.

Earls and zebo were crazy good today. Nearly any time either of them touched a ball something special happened.
One of them will be rightly pissed off if they were not in the match day 23. It looks like a straight shootout between bowe and kearney for a starting spot.
If either of bowe or kearney are not starting then they are out of the squad.

Agree that Henry is one of 4 top class back row options but POM is essential to so many areas of our game esp breakdown and line out. After RK, Sexton, Murray, Ross, O'Connell he is one of the first on the teamsheet. He will put his head where others would not risk.

Must be talking about stuff that POM played two years ago. Certainly has not looked an essential player since 6N this season.
On the basis of retaining the motivation and effectiveness of the Squad, Henry and Henderson must have made their cases very well. That puts SOB & POM under pressure with today's 2nd row pairing fighting for a slot alongside POC in the row

For once I find myself in disagreement with Hugo, I thought Toner had an excellent game.

He won 2 or 3 lineouts on opposition ball, 1 would have been rare enoughhugonaut wrote:Henry was great alright, would have been my man of the match. I think they'll have to mix up the team a bit from now on. There's many benefits to doing that, mainly keeping players in top shape. They don't need to play the full team against Italy imo. Italy are not great in terms of talent and their world cup has an Ireland 07 feel to it.
The schedule isnt the best for Ireland. France will be after a nice rest and if Ireland win that they face Argentina who had only 1 tough match and that was their first game.

I thought he was decent but didn't do enough to displace Henderson. Our maul only got going when O'Connell came on.
I didn't really buy the TV3 panels talking points, for a natural 13 cave plays 12 week in and out keeping natural 12s Marshall, Olding, and McCloskey out.
I also thought Madigan had to trust Jackson to make his tackle for their try and shoot to cut out the early pass for a certain run in. Jackson didn't.
