New South African Coach as Heyneker Meyer stands Down

Post by Armchair »

Official line is that he did not wish to continue when his contract ran out next month or possibly not offered new or acceptable terms. Where will he go? who will replace him.

Before his long stint with the Bulls he was briefly forwards coach with the Stormers.

Would he perhaps replace Eddie Jones after his 19 day reign.

Yeah very possible or would he join him with England?

Meyer is the Pretorian Deccie in many ways, cant see him doing another stint outside SA

new coach will have an interesting time, out of the 32 players who to the world cup only 12 will be playing their rugby either at all or in South Africa next season, though I think that excludes 3 or 4 players doing a stint in Japan
major rebuilding job to be done

Those players will burn out eventually. On top of that you have extreme pressure from the unions to bring in stricter quotas while the Bok fans remain very demanding. Its a poisoned chalice of a job.
