Even though he has gotten the better of Ma, I still se him as a winger.simonokeeffe wrote:who would you start 11 & 12 (& 13) ahead of him?Peg Leg wrote:The bench

Mccloskey should be entering into the frame at 12, I'm really impressed with Henshaw whenever I've seen him, so big rob to 13

I don't see him as a winger for Ireland, I'd have earls there ahead of him. Mcclloskey needs a look at 12 and Henshaw at 13, Trimble is probably 14 so he gets the bench. You can't build a team around him at centre, and I believe that he is best in the centre. His timing and footwork in tight space and his balance come more into play than on the wing where out and out pace is more important.

So you're going for 23?

He's the best 11 in the country by a mile. I wouldn't throw him into the middle when he is so effective out wide................. and we seem to have a few bigger options to look at at 12.

Think it was Simon who said that he looks good but can't really last 80 mins in the centre and I think that's true. Given the other options at centre (McCloskey outstanding again today) I think it's a bit of a toss up between himself and Zebo on the wing, and then the loser benches.
Don't think Joe will see it like that though, think he'll want him playing regualrly on the wing if he's to start there for Ireland. Love the idea of McCloskey and Henshaw in midfield with Payne at fullback and either Luke or Zebo adding more footballing ability to the back three.

Re: Where should Luke Fitzgerald play for Ireland?
an Ireland bench containing Healy, Henderson, Henry, and McCloskey gives me the vapours
I think Luke will be 11 and Payne will be given every chance to come back but would love McCloskey as an impact sub at least, like Sam Burgess only viable
mores the pity theres no Wolfhounds this season (afaik)

Waterboy if he's lucky. Unbelievably over rated. Joe will probably start him and wee Jordy in 3 positions each.
Re: Where should Luke Fitzgerald play for Ireland?
If I was an opposition centre, I wouldn't want those feet coming at me. At least an opposition winger can try hug him to the touchline.
Minimum in the 23, 13 if Henshaw out (should be ok), Possibly 11 depends on Earls.

You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!
