I'd go for Stander I think. Ruddock or Henderson at 6 with the other on the bench. I can't see Reidy or Murphy mixing it with the boks.

I would have thought if youre going for Stander Ruddock Heaslip back row then 6 7 8 in that order makes most sense

I think they're fairly interchangeable and as we've seen before with Schmidt, the number on a backrows shirt doesn't really have any bearing on the role they'll play during the game other than maybe which side they'll pack down on.

Have to admit I don't know much about the SA squad.
Ergo don't know who would be a good choice given the opposition.
Anyone out there who watches the super league care to give a run down of their players.
Who are their star men and given the thread title their no. 7s and/or BR in general who are likely first choice.
Ta in hope and advance.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

our friend from Europe this season Francois Louw of Bath probably will be their starting 7
Kolisi is a 6 1/2
Vermuelen at 8 of Toulon a monster

I would be fairly excited to see a back-row of Ruddock, SOB & Stander at some stage.
But that would be trying to match the Boks size and reduce our mobility somewhat, so for the tour Ideally we would to see JVDF play with Heaslip & Stander against them...
Can you add Excel Foley?

I'd absolutely like to see Stander at 8 - Heaslip has raised him game significantly in the last 6 months and Stander probably needs to stay at 6.

Ruddock I'm not convinced by - he's good but not as good as I thought he would be at this stage - needs a bit more aggression imo - doesn't have the physical impact someone like him should.

POM will walk back into eth team and probably be captain

For this tour - who knows what we do at 7 -> Stander I don't think has ever played there but a Dillane/Toner/Henderson/Stander/Heaslip back 5 looks good, depoite obvious concerns about ability on the ground. I don't think Ruddock works at 7 with Stander and Heaslip - if you had POM then probably, but may still be the best option. The others are Murphy or Reidy - I can well imagine that Schmidt was pretty livid with TOD re the wedding thing, but really think he should have brought him for 2 tests - or brought Henry

VdeF obviously isn't on tour - personally don't think he is ready - he went ok in the 6N without standing (which is a great achievement in itself) but certainly not someone I'd be saying is guaranteed starter down the line

Agree, but at the risk of introducing the much scorned "natural 7" debate. I think we need a link man energiser bunny, tackle, run, tackle, run, tackle, run, poach, link, run, repeat.
Not a bosher, lets try play a bit.

Boks would probably claim our Dutch flanker as one of their own

Foley is included in the last option, will see if I can edit it

Update: fixed that for ya Peg

Update to the Update: in editing it for Peg all the previous votes were wiped, hope you're happy now
