Next Irish Men's Senior Team Coach
While all I want is Joe's continuation with the side, if we had to appoint a new one, who would be in the reckoning?
Les Kiss, Pat Lam and Mark McCall for me. Perhaps Andy Farrell and Simon Easteerby would be on the list.
Is it me or is McCall not really in favour with the powers that be?

Not yet enough South Africans to suit McCall's selection stylebackrower8 wrote:While all I want is Joe's continuation with the side, if we had to appoint a new one, who would be in the reckoning?

Re: Next Irish Men's Senior Team Coach
McCall was very much not rated by the end of his Ulster tenure, think there was a bit of player unrest too. Kind of burnt the bridges with the IRFU. I think Les Kiss has been involved for too long, we need fresh ideas. Given Andy Farrell effectively coached a (generally) very good England team before the 2015 RWC, he would be a candidate for sure. Dave Rennie is succeeding Townsend at Glasgow next season, could he be an option from 2019 onwards?

Yeah that was my instant thought too. Don't think Kiss is an option.Oldschool wrote:Bomber surely.

Re: Next Irish Men's Senior Team Coach
I always rated Lancaster when he was the English coach. At the time many viewed my admiration of him to be a slight on Joe. Nothing he has done with Leinster has changed my mind about him. I'm glad he has quickly convinced the many doubters of his worth in the professional game, as he is a good guy who expects his players to be good guys, gets his teams organised and looks to play decent rugby and he seems to be a perfect foil for Leo.Oldschool wrote:Bomber surely.
As I said when Joe left Leinster for Ireland it was great to kill two birds with the one stone!!!! Might need something similar in a couple of years time.

Re: Next Irish Men's Senior Team Coach
Pat Lam would be my choice. How many coaches could have turned Connacht around in such a fashion ending up being pro12 champions? Not only that but they play the most attacking rugby in Europe!
Re: Next Irish Men's Senior Team Coach
I'd assume Birch would need a stint back home before coming into the reckoning?
Has Robbie Deans totally sh!t the bed after his stint with Oz?

Doing very nicely at the top of Pro D2 with Aurillec and growing in stature all the time with one of the lowest budgets in D2. An excellent apprenticeship almost completed.Oldschoolsocks wrote:What's Davidson up to this weather?

Re: Next Irish Men's Senior Team Coach
He was an awesome player whose career was unfortunately cut short by injury, by the sounds of things he has the rugby brain to match his physical gifts. Wonder have Ulster ever knocked on his door.
