Re: Ireland Under 20 2017
I dont think Tommy O'Brien has played much at 13 but he is very versatile so I'm sure he will go well. Cillian Gallagher will be a big loss particularly as they have now lost 2 captains. It is jinxed. Nash will have to be careful. Missing Wycherley as well int eh 2nd row. Hopefully the forwards dont get beaten up.
Not considered due to injury:
Jack Kelly (shoulder) - hoping to be available for selection for Wales
Johnny McPhillips (groin) - hoping to be available for selection for Wales
Gavin Mullin (hamstring) - hoping to be available for selection for Wales
Cillian Gallagher (shoulder) - awaiting additional results
Rory Butler (concussion) - unavailable for the remainder of the Six Nations

Great to see Johnston back playing again, he is a player that many are tipping to be a future star.

Re: Ireland Under 20 2017
no not injured. just squeezed out because Lyttle is back. Nash could have played centre but obviously O Brien did well enough to start and Frawley covers 10.goreyguy wrote:Is Hogan not injured?El Diablo wrote:

Let's hope all the Johnston hype proves genuine.

Add in he's only back from injury. Expect little from him to be honestgoreyguy wrote:to be fair he was very good last year as a u19.BrockBoy wrote:Let's hope all the Johnston hype proves genuine.

he is fairly used to returning from injury.. plus it's not like he is coming in cold, he has a few games for Garryowen under his belt.MunsterSugar wrote:Add in he's only back from injury. Johnston lived up to the hype last year in his brief appearances. Theres only so much he can do if he doesn't get a good platform but McPhillips was guilty of wasting some chances by kicking the ball away.
It looks an exciting backline although not the biggest. They'll have to play a high tempo game and keep the ball alive.

This will be a test. Some players have struggled to justify the hype thus far. Impressive player with a poor injury profile, stepping up a level Hopefully Johnston won't be found wanting and will impress the wonderersBrockBoy wrote:Let's hope all the Johnston hype proves genuine.

Plenty of players have been hyped up only to fall flat on their face.
Fitzgerald is also being tipped as a future international out half, but has yet to impress at 20s.

Re: Ireland Under 20 2017
The French 9 must have oil on his jersey because he has slipped out of every tackle so far.

Much better from the pack compared to the first two games. Maul defence still poor but it's improved and the rest of their game has improved a lot. Dowling, Johnston, Tommy O'Brien, and Larmour have been superb. Thought Larmour was unlucky that his pass was called forward.
The ulster contingent haven't been great. Stewart, Lyttle, and Rea have all made some bad errors.

They're looking a bit tried now. French pack are getting on top. Long way to go yet.

Need to play a bit of a tighter game now. No need for the killer pass every time.dropkick wrote:They're looking a bit tried now. French pack are getting on top. Long way to go yet.

Scrum gone to pot since Connolly went off.
Re: Ireland Under 20 2017
Good win.
I thought they became a little one dimensional in the second half. They probably only kicked for touch twice (near the end) and there was loads of space back there because the French put more men into the line. There were one or two other mistakes but you'd expect that. Some real talent in that side.
The pack struggled in the second half but dug in.

Re: Ireland Under 20 2017
I criticised Lyttle at HT time but thought he was much better in the second half.
Brilliant win. Couldn't really cope with the French physicality as the game went on but did really well to close it out. I reckon one more score early in the second half or before France got their first try would have led to an easy win. We played lots of good rugby anyway, hopefully more of the same against Wales.
