Great maturity shown by the squad but big time for the backs with all the changes especially in the first half. I think it was 4 HIAs and one sub got subbed off in the second half yet we still did well.

Thought the coaches made the best of a bad situation.
Only question marks I'd have is
1. why they took Connolly off at the time they did , we were under immense pressure in the scrum at the time and
2. why did they feel the need to put Fitzgerald on the bench when Frawley can cover 10? That spot could have been used for another back three player. Thought the decision backfired on them slightly. In their defense though, they couldn't have predicted the injuries to both Nash and McHenry.

Yes and in that situation you move your 6 to 8, your 7 to 6 and a back to 7.
And you know beforehand that, that is what you are going to do and you practice it.
The fact that we were struggling makes all of the above even more important

I thought they were unlucky with the injuries but the Irish backline had a few players who could play in multiple positions.

Good to see the set pieces have improved from the first game. Cooper will be under pressure if his scrummaging doesn't improve.

Johnston lived up to the hype. Apart from one or two kicks charged down (he plays very flat) I thought he gave the backs some great ball. His passing is exceptional. Larmour and O'Brien also lived up to the hype. Great talents those two. Larmour looks ready for pro rugby already.

There was a big difference between both backlines. The French passing was all over the place while the Irish passing was generally very precise.

Yes and in that situation you move your 6 to 8, your 7 to 6 and a back to 7.

I've been really impressed with him - he's not just built to play tighthead, he seems to have the right mentality for it. Tough and understated.

I presume Gavin Mullin will be back as well. It is going to be a tight call between Frawley, O'Brien & Mullin for the 2 centre berths. I presume if Nash is fit the back three will be Nash, Kelly and Larmour. If he is not fit O'Brien will surely go on the wing. He is a great finisher but Frawley has also been going well at 12.
