If only there were someone, someone from outside the traditional Irish rugby structure, someone who could be hired to take responsibility for professional coach development and succession planning, someone who could oversee National age-grade teams and Women's team performance. If only there were someone there who could take on such a role.

Was Tierneys a Nucifora appointment? That's a balls. Well that and the multitude of 7's teams than we are putting onto the field costing how many hundreds of thousands.

Never mind the cost, look at how well we're doing, all the trophies the mens and womens teams are winning at international and provincial level as a result of the amazing skills development sevens brings.

Surely even in your guise as the forums department of cynicism, understand the 7s attention as an investment in the corporate target of 2023?

I think that pretending to be good little corporate citizens within world rugby in the runup to 2023 is the only purpose that sevens rugby serves in Ireland - but I don't think the rest of Rugby in Ireland should suffer for it, like the Womens XV did. The moment the destination of the 2023 World Cup is announced, all sevens funding and activities should cease as it no longer is needed, wanted or of any use.

But it won't. D Lucifora is wedded to the concept that 7's can be the 5th Province of Ireland's long-term player development strategy, despite the fact that there is no evidence anywhere else (except possibly Fiji) that 7's does anything for XV's rugby development.

Our involvement in Men's Sevens will continue for as long as DN is around with Anthony Eddy.

Well if they continue to be as successful as they have been...

I see Leinster sent an U18 Girls 7's to France. This madness can't continue.

It will!
Although I've no idea why it's madness.
It is possible that the long term plan for rugby is 7's only.
This would eliminate a lot of the inherent risks in the 15 'man' game. - You read it here first.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.
