Re: RWC 2019 Draw
The good thing is that the favourites tag always sits well with us at world cups
It'll seem different at the time when the pressure is on but it certainly looks good right now. If we manage to avoid having Scotland in the last group game then we'll really be in a great place, it'd be some change from playing France one week and Argentina the next.

As hosts Japan will be the first game but against who? I suspect we'll have Scotland in the last game

Re: RWC 2019 Draw
Dont get this talk of England having group of death
Canada meh
Samoa rabble
Argentina theyve spanked last few times and are a bit disorganised
France resurgeant but they should beat
QF: Theyre beating Wales on the regular and 3-0'd Australia in Australia
For us think we're getting an insight into Scottish mentality that theyre delighted they think theyve a chance of an upset while confirming it would be an upset and they know it.
Then look at their recent record away from Murrayfield as opposed to our away record
Laidlaw will be 34 and Russell will still be Russell

As we well know, playing Argentina at a RWC is a completely different kettle of fish to playing them in June or November.simonokeeffe wrote:Dont get this talk of England having group of death

Interesting to see how the Toonie Tombola works in an international setting. The more Laidlaw is there, the better it is for Ireland.simonokeeffe wrote:Dont get this talk of England having group of death

Re: RWC 2019 Draw
The hosts should get higher ranked teams for the last games - keeps them in the contest longer. I know that did not happen for England last time around! lessons learned and all that..ribs wrote:As hosts Japan will be the first game but against who? I suspect we'll have Scotland in the last game

Re: RWC 2019 Draw
I know but theyve been muck since the last RWC and only picking Argentina based players is hurting them, especially from only have one side which has to change between coaching setupscormac wrote:As we well know, playing Argentina at a RWC is a completely different kettle of fish to playing them in June or November.simonokeeffe wrote:Dont get this talk of England having group of death

Agree it would also be very helpful to play the Scots early in the pool stages.

Re: RWC 2019 Draw
Scotland playing Japan in the last match would likely be a straight shout out to see who makes the QF...could be quite appealing to run with that.
Re: RWC 2019 Draw
I suspect they won't make the mistake of having the hosts play their two biggest group rivals in the first three games again. They won't want to run the risk of them going out too early in the competition. Suspect Japan won't have to play twice in four days either this time.LeRouxIsPHat wrote:Scotland playing Japan in the last match would likely be a straight shout out to see who makes the QF...could be quite appealing to run with that.

Not sure Japan v Romania will contain the same levels of schadenfreude.

Re: RWC 2019 Draw
So we either then get in order
Japan Scotland Qualifier Qualifier or
Japan Qualifier Scotland Qualifier
Either way thats a decent fixture list
Ideally scenario 2 with Romania second

Re: RWC 2019 Draw
Japan's best chance of getting thru is to play and lose (assumed) to Ireland in their first game with their last game against Scotland and Scotland's second last game against Ireland only four days earlier.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

Don't write out France. They have lots of talented players. They'll find a Coach with passion and ability to put them together. The President of the FFR will give the National team precedent above everything else.
