From the Irishrugby site
"Marcus Horan has been withdrawn from the Ireland team to play France in the RBS 6 Nations Championship this Saturday (12th February). Horan has been struck down by the winter vomiting bug and will be unable to travel with the squad to Paris.
Leinster prop Reggie Corrigan has been called into the match 22 as cover for the unfortunate Horan and will be travelling with the squad following this morning’s Ireland training session."

The Winter Vomiting bug is reasonably serious - the last thing that guy needs is loose weight Poor sod, just as he was nailing down the position.Dave Cahill wrote:From the Irishrugby site

Because Best is a tighthead that could cover loosehead but Reggie is an actual loosehead.Jesus what is the logic in having him start and not having on the bench then from the beginning?
Think of it this way, if Reggie was the one on the bench and Hayes was the one to get the bug you wouldn't expect Reggie to start at tighthead - you'd have called in Best.
DP, at least he's two weeks to recover.
No worries. Best is more flexible than most and usually if you can play tighthead you can hold your own at loosehead (most tighthead's migrate to loosehead later in their careers - e.g. Wallace and Clohessy) but it still makes sense to start with the specialist. Thanks for that CM, I am not too ofay with the ins and outs of the speciality of the front row, I just imagine they can slot in ... oops!
I'd be a bit worried about our props to be honest. Reggie wouldn't have been training/eating properly all week and may not be in peak condition for an international. Hayes seems fitter than usual and does finish matches more often than not but requiring one of them to definitely finish the match is a problem.
