New home ground for the Cardiff Blues

Post by sheepshagger »

Stumbled across this today, guess we will get to see the new ground when we visit in March 8)

New landmark at Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff Blues move to their fantastic new home at the Cardiff City Stadium in Leckwith next season and the work on the site is nearly complete, with the finishing touches to the impressive building being done over the forthcoming weeks.

With the mixed synthetic and grass pitch looking immaculate in the summer sunshine, the rugby posts were erected for the first time last week, to make sure everything measured up perfectly ahead of the rugby season kicking off in early September.

The Blues will be holding an Open Day on Saturday 18th July, which will give Cardiff Blues supporters the chance to explore the superb facilities at the new ground, including the opportunity to sit in their seats for the very first time.

Supporters of all ages are welcome to attend what promises to be a great day and there will be a host of activities taking place to keep fans occupied including, bouncy castles and ball pits for the youngsters and the chance to watch the Cardiff Blues squad being put through their paces in an open training session.

Speaking at the new stadium Cardiff Blues Chief Executive Robert Norster said,

“Cardiff Blues have worked closely with both Cardiff City FC and Cardiff Council over recent years and it was a fantastic feeling seeing the rugby posts erected in what is a truly impressive venue to watch top flight rugby.”

“Following on from the great success that Dai Young and his players achieved last year, the new stadium will offer supporters of all ages, the chance to watch our ever improving team play some of the biggest names in European rugby in the comfort that supporters expect in sporting venues in the 21st century.”

“We are encouraging all our supporters to come down to the stadium for the open day and hopefully enjoy some more summer sunshine, as well as having the chance sit in their seats for the first time and watch the team train.”
