Love ferris but just can't see him being able to play on. Hope I'm wrong. Lucky to get even 6mts

They are not expecting him on the field until the end of his contract. That will be over a year out with an ankle. Gives his knee a rest though.

Re: Ulster Thread 2012-13
If his injuries can be managed I think it is worth keeping in contract for the world cup. Use his sparingly but enough so he remembers how to play and keep working on getting him fit. It is really tough on the guy to have all that ability but to be let down by shoddy construction.
I really look forward to the day we see our first choice backrow of Heaslip SOB and Ferris play again.

Didn't know that, disaster. Any more info on the injury?Alternative Ulster wrote:They are not expecting him on the field until the end of his contract. That will be over a year out with an ankle. Gives his knee a rest though.
Presume that's the real reason he's not going to Japan anymore.

In fairness , McGrath use to actually play some games. I think Ferris is an animal and would love to see him back in the greensimonokeeffe wrote:Ferris is the new Paul McGrath

Not sure it's actually in Ulster's interest to have him knowing that he's probably never going to be available. But then again, you could say the same about Luke.....simonokeeffe wrote:Ferris is the new Paul McGrath

Re: Ulster Thread 2012-13
Ferris was getting flogged to death by Kidney and was flogging himself to death to play for Ulster through obvious injuries
If Schmidt and Anscombe can agree on a management/welfare programme for him there could be a RWC 2015 in him
but IMO as an impact sub for Ireland

Re: Ulster Thread 2012-13
Ferris should have been the rock on which ulster rugby was built, pace power and a terrific work rate. Sadly for them, irish rugby and most of all the player himself his injuries may prevent him from being the world star he should have been.
I wish the guy well but with effectively 1 knee how long can he continue to play at the highest level?
