All Blacks and Crusaders winger Zac Guildford has voluntarily stood down from involvement with the Crusaders after a late-night incident in Christchurch.
New Zealand Rugby Union chief executive Steve Tew says both the NZRU and the Crusaders were "very disappointed'' to learn of the incident that happened after Guildford, 23, attended a private house party earlier this month.
"As a result, the NZRU has initiated misconduct proceedings against Zac,'' he said.
"We will be meeting with Zac and his representative in the following week to discuss the matter, and next steps."
Guildford had previously been called before the NZRU three times in 18 months on alcohol-related issues.
His misconduct kept him out of the Crusaders pre-season matches and their first Super Rugby match last year.
He was recalled to the All Blacks team in May last year, replacing an injured Richard Kahui ahead of the three-Test series against Ireland
