Re: Heineken cup 2014 venue change
Cardiff really does have to be a boat, for me. Takes a little longer but, when you take the sitting around the airport out of the equation, it's not that bad at all. 2 hours to Rosslare and 2 hours to Cardiff, split by 4 hours on the boat and costs a fraction of the price generally. Flights are a scandal.
If you've a designated driver, it works out very handily as you can have pints after the game and then leave Cardiff at midnight and sleep on the late night ferry. All a bit heavy going but you're essentially gone for 24 hours only, have been able to have a few pints and enjoy the atmosphere after the game and have saved a fair bit of money. I much rather it than having to fly into Bristol or Birmingham and staying in a hotel miles away.

Try Birmingham or East Midlands - a little further but might be considerably cheaper.ARCD wrote:Aer Lingus already charging €200.99 to fly on the Friday to either Cardiff or Bristolnelly the elephant wrote:It's official now...Cardiff it is.....now to join the mad scramble for reasonably priced accomodation and travel...

If Cardiff is fully booked try places like Newport (15 minutes East on a train) or Bridgend (20 minutes west on a train) there not that many hotels but they would be glad of the custom and a lot cheaper than Cardiff plus the trains are very regular and if there's a few of you a taxi won't be that much. Swansea is an hour away on the train but would have the next most hotels and best nightlife outside of Cardiff
