I myself have been forced to play this cruel card game on more than one occasion at fund raising events called 'whist drives' and I can testify to the truma that occurs when your elderly partner eats the head off you for trumping her ace- or something....?
Sorry- it is a serious issue and I think that we in Ireland have been as complicit as any country in hiding from taking responsibility for its effects.
