Re: 2015 HEC Final
Cool! Will there be English representation? Pre 6 nations I mean of course. Not usually to many of them around after that.
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

The Italians won't be too happy.
All of them I've met think that Milano is a dingey, grey city full of snobbish Milanese.

Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

Milan's San Siro ready to stage 2015 Heineken Cup final
7 October 2013 16:25pm
Italy stands ready to stage a major European club rugby final for the first time with the 20th Heineken Cup decider scheduled to be played at Milan's world-famous Stadio Giuseppe Meazza San Siro in 2015.
The Board of ERC has confirmed the iconic 80,000-capacity stadium as the venue for the 2015 final of the world's most competitive club rugby tournament provided agreement on a new European club rugby Accord for the 2014/15 season and beyond can be reached.
The possibility of a Milan 2015 weekend was raised at today's (Monday, 7 October 2013) Italian European club rugby launch at the headquarters of Sky Sport Italia which was attended by the Head Coaches and captains of Italy's two Heineken Cup clubs, Benetton Trevsio and Zebre, as well as the four Italian Amlin Challenge Cup clubs.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Federazione Italiana Rugby (FIR), Alfredo Gavazzi, said: "We are especially proud that a Heineken Cup final could be staged in Italy as this is a tournament which plays a key role in the continued development of our top clubs, and which also is critical for the progress of our national team."
Addressing the issue of the current negotiations towards the formulation of a new Accord, Gavazzi added: "Regarding the future, I do not believe that an Anglo-French competition would be in any way suitable. The six unions have stated that they wish to keep the Heineken Cup and they are absolutely united on this point of view.
"The Italian Federation also believes that it is crucial to keep four of our clubs in the Amlin Challenge Cup to allow our young players to develop. Overall, I am confident that an agreement can be reached."
ERC Chairman, Jean-Pierre Lux, said: "We in are in a difficult period for European club rugby, and I too hope that a solution can be found and then we can look forward to 2015 and a celebration of 20 years of European club rugby in Milan. It would be a shame if Italian rugby lost such a major opportunity to promote the game in their country."
Today's launch in Milan was the fifth event during the build-up to Thursday's European club rugby kick-off with previous launches staged in Paris, Cardiff, Dublin and Glasgow.

Re: 2015 HEC Final
Whether deliberate or not, a great move by the ERC. Even more reason to isolate the money grabbers.
Re: 2015 HEC Final
That was in long term plans, was even mentioned when this years was moved. Good to see they are still talking about it though.Fred Funk wrote:Whether deliberate or not, a great move by the ERC. Even more reason to isolate the money grabbers.

There sure would. Especially if there are no French teams in the tournament! We had two teams in Dublin with bugger all support so the stadium was largely full of locally interested rugby fans of which there are very few in Milan.simonno6 wrote:Would there be concerns re this selling out?

Except that Milan, being in Lombardy, and next door to Venetia, is the hub of the rugby playing population of Italy.

True but would there be a big enough Rugby playing population interested to make the trip.Dave Cahill wrote:Except that Milan, being in Lombardy, and next door to Venetia, is the hub of the rugby playing population of Italy.
Irish teams in finals are almost essential to securing sell-outs over the last few years.
