He got injured early in a game before Christmas and hasn’t played since. Presume he is still injured because from what I saw on Friday he would walk into that team.

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
PRL clubs have blocked a plan whereby Maro Itoje would move to R92 on loan and still be available for England selection saying that it didn't meet the 'exceptional circumstances' exception in their 'Play in England to play for England' rule
I have Bumbleflex
Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
I assuming that this was conjured up because other clubs could not afford Maro next season lest they go over budget too?Dave Cahill wrote:PRL clubs have blocked a plan whereby Maro Itoje would move to R92 on loan and still be available for England selection saying that it didn't meet the 'exceptional circumstances' exception in their 'Play in England to play for England' rule
Well thats that window closed for a few players at least.

Is PRL off or still TBC?

A U-Turn by BOJO on mass gatherings will surley put the Prem on hold too.

Same articles talking about Itoje are also saying that Kruis is off to Japan next season on a wedge of dosh.

It’s mad that the clubs can block the England coach from picking players.blockhead wrote:I assuming that this was conjured up because other clubs could not afford Maro next season lest they go over budget too?Dave Cahill wrote:PRL clubs have blocked a plan whereby Maro Itoje would move to R92 on loan and still be available for England selection saying that it didn't meet the 'exceptional circumstances' exception in their 'Play in England to play for England' rule

The clubs aren’t going to give Saracens an inch.

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
Its not just the clubs though, the RFU are an equal party to the restriction. They don't want access to the international players restricted by overseas clubs that aren't party to player release agreements. They don't want an Itoje or a Farrell having to fly back to Paris or Clermont-Ferrand to play in a Top14 game between 6 Nations matches, or not being available for training camps. The clubs aren't blocking the coach from picking him, the structure of English professional rugby is and the coach is as much a part of that structure as anyone else

Sarries, Wasps and Worcester have announced they're asking staff and players to take a 25% cut in wages.
Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
Sarries will probably be still over the cap.
Were at it too.
The IRFU, Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster Rugby, in agreement and partnership with Rugby Players Ireland and its members, have today agreed a payment deferral model for all employees.
These deferrals, based on an equitable sliding scale which ranges from 10% – 50%, will be effective from April, and beyond if required, but will remain subject to constant review of the financial circumstances of the IRFU and Provinces.
The IRFU hopes to return to full pay, and repay any deferrals, as soon as possible

Somebody, nobody knows who, used a former England Captains (now a BT sport pundit/co-comms) credit card in a brothel, a court case has heard. It could not be established what the money (£10K) was spent on.
Ten thousand pounds eh? That's gotta sting.

Disgruntled Premiership players consider forming breakaway player union - report
Frustrated Premiership players are considering setting up a breakaway player union due to dissatisfaction over how the Rugby Players’ Association (the RPA) have acted during the coronavirus pandemic. Amid across the board pay cuts enforced by the clubs, Damian Hopley’s longstanding union have been accused of ‘not turning up’ in the crisis due to its heavy reliance on funding from Premiership Rugby.
The sense of injustice is further fuelled by how clubs have allegedly colluded not to sign each other players, leaving about 55 top-flight players in limbo as they are coming to the end of their current contracts on June 30 with nothing agreed beyond that date.

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
It seems that the Welsh Regions want to join the breakaway English clubs to form an Anglo Welsh League. This would be devastating for the Pro14.

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
Why would the English want to play the Welsh more? They binned off the Anglo welsh cup because it didn't make them money.
