oddly they didn't appeal the first decision. It went like this:Peg Leg wrote:Especially when you consider the rhetoric about appealing the first sanctionDave Cahill wrote:Its interesting that it appears that they have been given a choice between definite relegation (possibly via a further 35 point deduction) now or potential relegation on foot of an audit and have chosen the former. 1, Premiership rugby fines salarycens and penalises them
2. Salarycens release statement "we did nothing wrong"
3. Salarycens choose not to appeal original fine and penalties,
4, Salarycens continue on with same squad
5. Premiership rugby point out that salarycens are taking the pi55
6, nigel wray does a runner and terminates his directorship and starts selling off 50% of shares in the club
7 Salarycens accepts another points penalty guaranteeing relegation rather than opening up their boooks.
8 Salarycens play victim and go all out to win the champions cup to prove to everyone they have no fecking scruples or anything resembilng dignity,

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
There are a number of positives for teams in the Championship though. Think of the hordes of supporters Salaryciens will being to away games next season.
Despite what we may think of Rangers they did bring thousands to away games in the Scottish third division and brought much needed income to very small clubs.
On a more pertinent point the relegation means no European Champions Rugby for at least 2 seasons.
There is no guarantee that they will achieve top 6 when they return after next season.

The last is a bit unfair. They should go balls out to win the European Cup, give supporters and this group of players a last big day.MylesNaGapoleen wrote:oddly they didn't appeal the first decision. Not the part about having no scruples or dignity though. That's fair. I'd also add they have a typical billionaire's attitude to the truth: it's what I say it is. Anyone disagreeing with me will be fired/ undermined by a paid troll army and paid for media coverage feom toadies.

My favourite scenario if they win tomorrow is that they meet exeter in the quarters, with their full strength squad and exeter beat them!fourthirtythree wrote:The last is a bit unfair. Massive. They will surely switch their focus to the HC now. Better playing them in a QF or SF at home.

So no 35pt deduction, just relegation regardless?
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
Statement so close to this game could hardly be a coincidence.
Wonder what team will show up?
Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
They’re discussing it now on Sky News but there’s something I’m still not clear on; is there any onus on them to now offload players and get themselves under the cap?

Does the Championship not have a salary cap? It would be ironic if it hadn’t.Twist wrote:They’re discussing it now on Sky News but there’s something I’m still not clear on; is there any onus on them to now offload players and get themselves under the cap?

If memory serves, it doesn't. Open to correction on this though as I'm not certain how well my memory servesartaneboy wrote:Does the Championship not have a salary cap? Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
Just occurred to me- does this mean that there will be no relegation of the bottom club in the Premiership this year- besides the already doomed Saracens, that is?
How will they be able to stay pure to their competitive creed without that “sacrament”?

No. I read they had talks to offload players but other clubs couldn't afford them, nor the transfer fees Sarries were looking for.Twist wrote:They’re discussing it now on Sky News but there’s something I’m still not clear on; is there any onus on them to now offload players and get themselves under the cap?

I believe there is no salary cap in the championship but any club looking for promotion must have been with salary cap regs for season of promotion and season before that.Dave Cahill wrote:If memory serves, it doesn't. They might not be able to go straight up!!!!!
Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
The RFU must be raging, they didn’t care about the cap obviously but Saracens was built on English talent more than foreign talent and they developed key players.
Cheating or not they provided rock stars and have been doing so for a while when other clubs weren’t. The RFU made a huge effort and spent a lot of money getting the best English players back in England. Now anything could happen but their hands are tied.
A united response from the clubs also doesn’t bode well for the next war.
