Re: New Euro competition
Seems the PRL have picked up a few tips from the ERC"They either agree to the new competitions by Thursday or they are out. It's as simple as that."
Our way or the highway
Re: New Euro competition
Well they stand to lose most out if they dont sign up more than any other. Can't understand why they are f%~king around.
Re: New Euro competition
Did the Italians really think the could stand in the way of this going ahead?
Re: New Euro competition
A source?
More ultimatums coming with short deadlines and threats.
After all the shyte over England threatening to leave, it's all going to change over another 6N partner. That doesn't sound like a quote from someone who isn't PRL.

Re: New Euro competition
The final stumbling block is the unfair distribution of competition funds. The Celtic Nations have agreed to share the guaranteed €20m as follows:
IRFU €5.1m
WRU €5.1m
SRU €5.1m
FIR €4.7m
So basically, instead of splitting the money four ways €5m each) the Pro12 wants to each get 100k extra out of the Italians share, which really seems pedantic and arbatory at this point, for an extra 100k each? Just give them their fair share ffs. Especially now that they are equal members of the Pro12 and have equal representation on the board, just get it signed.
Ideally though, it would be done on a team basis. So each Pro12 team gets €1.666 million each, meaning the IRFU get €6.6666m, the Welsh get €6.6666m and the Scottish and Italian teams get €3.3333 each, as after all, the Irish and Welsh are contributing and finding two additional professional teams, so simply splitting it 4 ways doesn't accurately reflect the expense each union endures to make the competition happen. So in that regard, the Scottish and Italians are both doing very well.
IRFU €5.1m
WRU €5.1m
SRU €5.1m
FIR €4.7m

Arguably Italy and Scotland need the funding more, development of the game and all that.

I was all or giving them a helping hand but it looks as though the Scots broke rank and sold out to BT, hense the sponsorship on their jerseys.olaf the fat wrote:Arguably Italy and Scotland need the funding more, development of the game and all that.
The Italians should really be getting equal. It just goes to show how rocky the Pro 12 partnership is if they're trying to do one another out of small amounts of money.

What's fair about it? They are lucky to get what they have. They've been in the tournament and have brought pretty much nothing to the competition bar providing an unbalanced and unfair advantage for teams lucky enough to be in their group![Jackass] wrote:The final stumbling block is the unfair distribution of competition funds. Re: New Euro competition
One thing I've not seen mentioned yet is will it be 5 groups of 4 with the 5 group winners and 3 best runners-up going through to the quarter finals? I guess there are not enough weekends for 4 groups of 5 with the top 2 in each group going through.

Yes, according to the link 5 posts up.nc6000 wrote:One thing I've not seen mentioned yet is will it be 5 groups of 4 with the 5 group winners and 3 best runners-up going through to the quarter finals?
