So, that's that era. Toulon have retained their Title and join the select band. What's next? With Jonni gone, almost certainly to be soon joined by Bakkies, Ali W, Heymans, Joe Van Niekerk and without any sign of another inspirational out-half, captain and leader, and certainly not Freddie Michalak....the Toulon era in Europe is finished for a couple of years.

Sarries looked the same as last year and probably Ulster would have beaten them without Payne's dismissal. And yet they're the best in England by a mile....except maybe for Northampton.....but we ran over them in the Gardens......but maybe Bath will be revitalised, but didn't Northampton do a number on them when George Ford started to miss all his kicks? But Leicester will always be around....but somebody mentioned that it's nearly 10 years since an English Club won the major European trophy.

But maybe Castres will prove that France has more to offer than just Toulon....certainly not Toulouse who may have to replace Guy Noves to find a new leader and a new direction........probably the same in Clermont who need a new out-half....and a coach.....and a captain....... but Montpelier with Galtie may find the final piece in the jig-saw...but didn't Ulster beat them home and away?

So, clear enough then, Toulon beat Sarries in the Final and beat Munster & Leinster en route, but lost to Cardiff along the way. Sarries beat everybody, including Ulster, en route to the Final but lost to Toulouse home and away. Sarries play Northampton in the English Final, Leinster play Glasgow in the Celtic Final, Toulon play holders Castres in the Top 14 Final and Leinster beat Castres in their home fortress. At last, a clear train of thought to get me a good night's sleep!

All we need Matt, for next Season, is power, pace and precision....every week. Not a lot to ask.
