Cardiff back in WRU hands. No idea whats changing hands, but apparently the WRU are in control while the owners pursue a development deal.

EDIT: Not sure why I said back.
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

It seemed to happen faster than you can say, "white elephant".

They only moved back in 8 years ago and now they want a dome and are getting rid of the rugby team because it's a distraction...

It begs the question why hand over the rugby team to the WRU? Surely they can manage both at the same time.....unless

Seem to recall they paid decent money to break the lease on Cardiff City Stadium

I'm sure many of their fans are against union ownership. This 'babysitting' talk might just be a way to get the fans used to wru ownership before they make it official.

Methinks the fans thinks the union can for lots of dual contracts and the clubs will get big private investment like when regions had relatively big budgets and did will. Problem is even at height of the boom the investors were getting turned off and they were investing half of what would be needed now to be competitive

I thought the soccer team were desperate to get rid of them after they got promoted.

They invested big, in white elephant stadia attached to shopping centres. Otherwise they've talked about how much money they're losing on rugby.

The ownership model is surprisingly popular with fans for something that hasn't been a success.

Think the only team to invest in a new stadium was the Scarlets. Fairly certain the Liberty was built by the local council and Cardiff were only ever tenants at the football stadium.

Cardiff moved back to the smaller stadium to increase crowds, might look up how much that lease was

But when you add in the European gates our average goes up to 19260; Munster's is 19053 and Ulster's is 15894

There was an investigation into the tax affairs and legality of some of those Welsh stadiums, Liberty certainly was under investigation

They peddled the supporters pipe dreams of big signings, big stadia and big crowds (and often threw around the possibility of one day joining the AP, harking back to well-attended games between Ponty and Bath when Welsh teams were actually competitive).

The owners have now come to realise that none of the above is possible in the short term, and some of it is only possible in the long term if they're not interested in recouping their money. The supporters still have their heads in the clouds.

I would say their heads were in the clouds via their arses, if they joined the AP they would struggle along with at least one side in the Championship if not 2

At the very least we can expect the Adam Byrne appreciation choir to boost the numbers. They have submitted a group petition for ticket concessions.
