Dr. Rod McLoughlin scared the B'Jesus out of the missus.
There is no solid evidence that rugby impacts result in CTE...... we have issued strict guidelines to try prevent CTE from impacts....

The link appears infected to me but has anyone got it on YouTube or any other means as we cant view the RTE player up North
US Soccer has banned kids aged 10 and under from heading the ball. Usually I'd think it was nonsense and dislike them for trying to change the traditions of the game but actually I can see this kind of thing catching on.

I think most of the concussions that happen are from clashes of heads. I understand the thinking but would probably favour a rule that headers be confined to the box. heading a ball that's traveled 50 meters from height from a kick out vs heading a corner seems to me like a different proposition.
That is a desperately sad story and her poor parents must be devastated.
However, isn't it a bit soon for the BBC to be trying to turn this into a concussion related death - surely that pronouncement lies solely in the hands of the coroner

Considering its only kids ages 10 and under I don't think there's too great a risk of heading a ball after traveling 50m. In fact, it would be rare enough in an under 10 game of football that the ball even reaches head height.
I don't disagree, but my worry would be if someone does end up hurting themselves and the argument arises that "you were aware that US Soccer brought in this rule, why didn't you?".
It's time for the unions to think a little more radically about the concussion issue.
Presumably to changed scrum engagement has resulted in fewer concussions and no doubt other injuries also.
A ban on high tackling is already on the law book but it needs some augmentation.
For instance:-
1. Ban aerial box kicks/Garryowens outside the 22m.
2. Ban the choke tackle.
3. Squads have to nominate a specialist tackling coach who must get suitable accreditation for this specific role.
The defense coach could likely double up on this role but the important thing is that he/she must get separate accreditation.
4. The IRB should sponsor the latest technology in this area and co-ordinate an across the board approach.
5. High speed impacts are a major source of concussion. So the speed on impact needs to be reduced.
Some of the law changes were made with a view to speed up the game in order to make it more entertaining.
A side effect of this policy has resulted in impacts between players occurring at higher speed and etc.
Those changes need to be reviewed as a matter of urgency.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.
Cudmore is looking to Sue Clermont for breach of the concussion protocols. If this happened (no reason to think it didn't) and he was put back on the pitch by a team doctor, having failed the RTP protocols, they have a massive case to answer.

Scary stuff.
Pretty shitty attitude from the club staff to a club legend. Rugby in France is in a dark age.
A lot of French coaches don't give a toss about concussion. Remember a game involving Toulouse a couple of years ago when (I think) Huget got an almighty bang on the head, went to the dressing room where that dinosaur Noves effectively told him to get back on the pitch. Then after the game Noves came out with something on the lines "I got lots of bangs on the head and it never did me any harm". Plank.
Between that and their ambivalent attitude to gouging - reference the 14 week ban on Ugalde for probably the worst example of gouging in recent years - French rugby is a bit of a cess pit.

I know this is really serious and I shouldn't laugh but I found myself wondering who Sue Clermont is and how she was able to breach concussion protocols
