What eureka moment? We lost two out of three tests against a fairly unimpressive Bok side!simonokeeffe wrote: No on RK but I think others shone and shone brightly in their abscence. Joe's Ireland have had a eureka moment with attacking fullbacks and nearly everyone is now playing a wide wide game. Plus we (know we) dont have the front 5 to play narrow
no more
Plus side is Leinster have spare/better options at 15 and if RK starts for Ireland by choice then chances are Ringrose is available more which would be damn good news for Leinster

Re: Philip Browne issues warning to the provinces
we saw what Payne could do and we played much more attacking/sexy rugby missing 15 or so players, away from home, end of long season, back to back tests, altitude, world cup year, cant buy red lemonade there, man sent off, they shouldve had a man sent off, missed their mammies etc etcDave Cahill wrote:What eureka moment? and that Bok team got a lot better once they went Lions heavy
If Payne plays 15 in the autumn I'm right, he doesn't I'm wrong

Plus Payne missed the last test and our attack was much worse in that game.
Re: Philip Browne issues warning to the provinces
Getting back to the original post, what would you think if I said this year's budget is not yet sorted out and the million euros to each province was a bit of journalistic waffle.

If true and I have no reason to suspect otherwise it is a diabolical situation that provinces don't know how much they have in the pot for contracts as it is that time of year for negotiations to begin.
Re: Philip Browne issues warning to the provinces
Typical management strategy is to seek to dampen expectations before negotiations begin.
Are expectations high?
Are expectations high?

Up to or above the €500k promised?rooster wrote:They know funding will be cutOldschool wrote:Typical management strategy is to seek to dampen expectations before negotiations begin.

It's one thing to cut the budget- assuming for next season- but to do so after making a big play about saving the provincial skins earlier in the year is callous.
Is this legal, particularly after the IRFU announced figures for each province?

They will say we never said we would give you 500k
Re: Philip Browne issues warning to the provinces
As an example of the money difference between Irish and English sides Exeter have released their figures for last year and they have an income in excess of £5 million more than us, now they are a club that is not pulling in a huge tax dodge or twisting the books so it is probably as good a comparison as you will get

They were living within means and owned own ground. Saw this posted elsewhere but those figures may be an anomaly due to hosting world cup matchesrooster wrote:As an example of the money difference between Irish and English sides Exeter have released their figures for last year and they have an income in excess of £5 million more than us, now they are a club that is not pulling in a huge tax dodge or twisting the books so it is probably as good a comparison as you will get

A lot of club related revenue probably doesn't touch the books here though, thanks to the IRFU.

They ran a profit of £1.2 million up from the previous year of 900k, yes RWC added a bit but they are better funded than our sidessimonokeeffe wrote:They were living within means and owned own ground. And when you take into account they are one of the lowest funded sides it makes the difference even worse.simonokeeffe wrote:thats finer detail alrightrooster wrote:They ran a profit of £1.2 million up from the previous year of 900k, yes RWC added a bit but they are better funded than our sidessimonokeeffe wrote: They were living within means and owned own ground. We will never match or even get anywhere near their TV deals, in fact entire PRO12 TV money is probably not much more than one PRL Club get !
