I always think people from Mayo are the most humble of Irish people. It's not relevant but I thought I'd throw it in.

What have Dublin and Kerry got to do with anything? We're talking rugby not GAA and Dublin and Kerry don't have rugby teams.tomthefan wrote:What I've always admired about Kerry people
is that they don't gloat or brag when they win.
Whenever dublin win anything it's non-stop for

Re: Munster 2017 -2018
What Munster county do you figure Tom The Fan is from? (silly season after all!)
I reckon its either Limerick or Waterford. People from Cork know all about Kerry bragging, Tipp and Clare will have football teams that have felt the pain of Kerry Football in the past.
Fair play to Tom though, for pointing out the low points of Dublin and Kerry people as opposed to the wider group of Munster and Leinster fans. We'd never brag - lessons learned from the great munster fans of 06 to 09.

Since hurling is the main sport in Cork and the rest of Munster, it's like someone from England bragging about having a better cricket team.

More like England bragging about having a better rugby team, as football is taken fairly seriously in Cork.dropkick wrote:olaf the fat wrote:What Munster county do you figure Tom The Fan is from? (silly season after all!)

Cork people talk about it being a hurling county, but its not. Its football. Very few hurling All Irelands won by Cork.

Cork have won 30 Senior Hurling All Ireland titles, surpassed only by KiIkenny.BlueBlue wrote:

Tricky enough draw for Munster. The former Lions coaches dynamic will be an interesting subplot in the matchup with Gloucester. Ferreira will know how Ackerman likes to attack, but Ackerman will know exactly where the weak points are in Ferreira's defensive system.

Think the Joe and Farrell exposure from the three test tour will have done a huge amout to kick start things between Murray and Carberry and to enhance others like Conway, Scannell. Munster will be an interesting watch this coming season.

And don't forget Cloethe and Taute coming back from injury and maybe Farrell if he gets back to fitness soon.

The depth isn't there, yet, but they've got the makings of one hell of a first team.
Re: Munster 2017 -2018
They get more games from their first team, so they don't need quite as much depth as us.TerenureJim wrote:The depth isn't there, yet, but they've got the makings of one hell of a first team.
They have a good squad and a lot more depth than us in many positions.

Re: Munster 2017 -2018
They'll have three top-quality 6's in their starting XV next season - POM, Stander and Beirne. They could actually field a backrow of 6's, but assume Beirne will mainly be used in the second row.

Communicated that back to front, 30 hurling and 7 football. Very few football All Irelands for a county that see's itself as a football powerhouse.Dave Cahill wrote:Cork have won 30 Senior Hurling All Ireland titles, surpassed only by KiIkenny.BlueBlue wrote:

If you go back to wherever you found your stats and look up dublino you'll see that cork's combined total of 37 exceeds our nation's capital's haul.
BTW on the radio the other day they were comparing the amounts Dublin was given from GAA central funds over a particular period for games' development versus the other counties.
Dublin got €16 million, Cork got the next highest amount, €1 million.

Can't this discussion be had on one of the many GAA forums out there? I come here for rugby chat.

Ignoring that those figures came from some chap who added them together, without showing his sources, Dublin is treated as a province so gets more directly from the GAA. Cork would also get money from Comhairle na Mumhan whereas Dublin doesn't get anything from Comhairle Laighean.tomthefan wrote: yes blue blue shur 'tis soooo easy to mistake hurling for football and vice versa.

Dublin got €16 million, Cork got the next highest amount, €1 million.
Also, if you look at 'the list', other small counties with a fraction of the population of Dublin got close to a million (eg, Laois got >850K), so maybe the fault is with Cork.
