Good away win in Treviso for Ulster. Coaches have obviously stiffened the backbones. Well done

The first half could have been a more flea ridden version of what was happening in Twickenham. Benetton were completely dominant but couldn't take advantage and Ulster got a lot better in the second period

Damn. Always sad to hear. Ulster really missed a trick when they bungled getting him and went for Piutau instead (albeit the latter had some exceptional moments).

Think Hogg used Ulster to get a better deal from SRU. Exeter must be offering him big cash, no doubt he has got big offers from Top 14.

Really interested to read Hogg's comments that he chose Exeter for two reasons: a) his admiration for Rob Baxter and, b) the similarity of Exeter countryside to that of Hawick where he lives at present. Money was not a critical factor.

Very interesting choice by him and by Exeter. Its not a position where they have ever posed a threat as Phil Dollman has been a sound defensive full-back rather than an attacker. It could make the Chiefs an even stronger outfit in the future.

The £500,000 a year he is getting is not bad mind!

Funny the stuff players make up to justify their move. Can't imagine the risk of needing a work visa if he went to France next year would have affected his decision or worth.

He doesn't live in Hawick anymore but I'm surprised he's "only" getting £500k. You'd think he would have been offered lots more from France. Interesting that he's chosen Exeter.

Perhaps he likes their cream teas.

You'd have to think Johnny Gray will be next out the door. That's Strauss, Nakarawa and Russell from the team that won the title in 2015 gone with no replacements of similar quality. They've also lost Pyrgos Weir and Bennett too but the replacements are better but they're not really the spine of a team. I'd say Rennie is raging.
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014
England A 8 - 14 Ireland A, 25th Jan 2014
Ruddock(c) 19/2 Tackles

Don't forget Rennie's contract is up at the end of this season as well.

I think we did well to keep Gray last time, not sure we can do so again :(. He would be a bigger loss imo, he's part of the heart of the club. Let's face it Hogg has barely played this year and was always going to leave at some point so it's not exactly unexpected.

Huw Jones to Tigers is the rumour. Article says he turned down £375k/year to stay at Glasgow. Offered more at Leicester.

Glasgow strike me the same as Connacht after they won the Pro14. A small club who did well and were then stripped of their assetts by bigger clubs. Victims of their own success
